While the 0-3 away win over Anderlecht had the Celtic fans here in the Transfer Tavern dreaming about a Champions League shock against Bayern Munich, it didn’t turn out to be that way. Indeed, the Bhoys in the bar were forced to watch their beloved side pulled apart by the German giants in the Allianz Arena last night.
Though losing to Die Rotten is by no means a shameful result, the manner in which the home side sliced through the Scots was disappointing, on their way to a 3-0 win. In truth, it could have been more, with Celtic leaving themselves far too open at times.
One man’s performance in particular has been picked up by those online. Leigh Griffiths is a certified Celtic hero, though the striker has been slated on Twitter, with many believing he was the wrong choice to spearhead the Hoops’ attack.
Struggling to hold the ball up whenever Brendan Rodgers’ men were able to break, the former Hibernian man has seemingly invoked the ire of the punters propping up our bar, as well as those on social media.
With that in mind, here’s a look at how Celtic fans reacted online to Leigh Griffiths performance in the Champions League against Bayern Munich last night.
Armstrong and Griffiths probably the worst players on the park. Gamboa was ripped apart 1st half but got better in the 2nd half

Easy to say now but I’d have started Dembélé and Rogic. Much better players than Armstrong and Griffiths. #Celtic

I know it’s not his game but Griffiths has to try to be a better out ball for Celtic. He’s giving his team nothing.

I said yesterday I thought Dembele would start and I think Rodgers made wrong call starting Leigh. All too easy for Boateng and Hummels.

Coman has Gamboa on toast. No out ball in Griff. Panic passes. Also miles behind the calibre of Bayern.
