Our Tottenham Hotspur fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that Mauricio Pochettino will show a few big names the door this summer in order to move the team forward after this season’s disappointing campaign – in comparison to previous years.
Mauricio Pochettino has had to mastermind a fantastic rise up the table for Spurs in the second half of the season, after what was a patchy time in the in 2017. Spurs currently sit in the top-four in the league and well within the Champions League spots for next year, which is vital with the new stadium move on the horizon.
Having suffered their first league defeat of the year to Man City recently and an FA Cup tie against Man United coming up, Pochettino will be looking to try and bounce back and salvage an FA Cup final appearance in what has been, for many of our regulars, a tough season to watch.
Our regulars believe that if Spurs didn’t have such a bad start to the campaign then they have the talent within the squad to have been up there with United and City, a lot of the blame, our landlord feels is down to these TWO players…
Danny Rose
The England left-back hasn’t really recovered from his summer outburst in which he slated all around him, in a supposed attempt to force a move to Manchester United. Rose wanted more money, especially after his pal and former teammate Kyle Walker’s move to Manchester City which saw him increase his wages and has majorly increased his personal trophy room this season alone.
Following this outburst and the replacement of Walker, Spurs had to take some time to adjust to new settings in the defence which would not have aided in their attempt to be a force this season.
Dele Alli
Dele Alli suffered in the first half of the season to rediscover his form from previous years and, many pundits started to circle in their criticism of the Englishman. Alli has been the pivotal point of Spurs’ midfield for a few years now and it surprised many of the punters how inconsistent his form was, he has since had an upturn in fortunes which has coincided with the Lillywhites’ rise up the table.
Alli will be a Spurs player for many years to come and the experience he has had this year can only aid his career in the future.
