100% of polled Leeds fans want Fernando Llorente at Elland Road

Leeds United recorded a 1-0 win over Reading last night to move within a point of league leaders Norwich City, but there are plenty of supporters who want to see at least one January arrival despite their glowing start to the campaign.

Kemar Roofe has been in electric form for Leeds this season at the spearhead of Marcelo Bielsa’s attack. With eight goals in 13 Championship appearances there is no question that Roofe is the undisputed first-choice striker ahead of Tyler Roberts, but the lack of experienced back-up for the club’s top-goalscorer is a notable cause for concern.

Sure, Roberts was impressive when he deputised for Roofe earlier in the season, but he cannot be relied upon to consistently deliver at this level.

With that in mind, it was little surprise to see Leeds linked with a £4 million January move for Tottenham outcast, Fernando Llorente, last week (as per The Sun).

Llorente previously worked under Bielsa at Athletic Bilbao and the past connection could prove pivotal if Leeds eventually decide to submit an offer in January.

In response to report, we asked Leeds fans if they would like their club to sign the 33-year-old in January, and the result was overwhelmingly in his favour.

Indeed, 100% of polled Leeds supporters called for Andrea Radrizzani to make a bold decision in the transfer market to help with their promotion bid.

The increasingly popular owner has admitted in the past that Leeds aren’t blessed with extensive financial resources to splash in the transfer market, so unless he is capable of haggling with the notoriously prudent Daniel Levy, Leeds may be forced to wait until the summer when his contract expires.

Either way it’s crystal clear what the Elland Road faithful are hoping for…
