The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been a bit disappointed with the start to the season their side has made…
Though most were expecting a title challenge this season, it has been far from an ideal beginning to the campaign, with the Reds currently in 7th place in the Premier League.
Still, it’s early days and their title chances are far from gone. Things are just going to be far more difficult from here on out.
Jurgen Klopp hasn’t had an easy few weeks, with mistakes and errors plaguing his team. Just this past weekend, a draw against Newcastle has proven his problems once again, and he desperately needs to make things right.
Fortunately for the German, the international break is here, and that should give him plenty of time to work on a few of Liverpool’s outstanding issues.
With that said, here are 2 major Liverpool problems that Klopp simply must solve during the international break…
That Leaky Defence

This is a big problem for Liverpool right now.
The Reds, for the most part, have a very strong side. But their defence is a very big issue.
Dejan Lovren has been a big culprit, but nobody at the back is faultless. During the international break, Jurgen Klopp simply has to find a way of sorting his defence out – there is no other choice.
He can’t sign anyone, he’s already made the mistake of not doing that over the summer, and so he has to work with what he’s got.
It’s going to be tough, but if he doesn’t find a solution, somehow, then it’s going to make or break his season.
Goalkeeping Situation

Jurgen Klopp’s method of picking a goalkeeper certainly has its merits. It allows both main shot-stoppers to play regularly, and thus, in theory, both will be happy.
However, in reality, it doesn’t work like that.
Not only does a lack of consistency between the sticks harm the morale of the player, but it also affects the team as a collective. It’s very hard to ensure defensive stability when a different goalkeeper is managing the defence and commanding at set pieces every single week.
Klopp’s intentions are good, but if he wants to get rid of those pesky defensive errors, sticking with one goalkeeper would be wise. Over the international break, he needs to pick one.
