Liverpool supporters have been in fine voice in the Transfer Tavern in recent days after seeing their side make it four wins in a row with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Southampton at Anfield, a result which saw the Reds bridge the gap to the Premier League’s top four to just one point.

Jurgen Klopp’s men went into the international break off the back of wins over Huddersfield Town, Maribor, and West Ham, and would have viewed a home clash with Mauricio Pellegrino’s Saints as the perfect opportunity to keep their run going. And they did just that as a brace from Mohamed Salah as well as a second half Philippe Coutinho strike sealed a 3-0 success for the Merseyside giants, a result which moved them to within a point of Tottenham in fourth place in the Premier League table.

Thus, there have been many delighted Liverpudlians in the Tavern in recent days, with many looking forward to their team’s return to Champions League action this evening away to Sevilla, with Klopp’s men knowing that victory would secure their place in the last 16 of Europe’s elite competition.

In the meantime though, there has been much for our resident Reds supporters to discuss, not least reports which suggest that striker Daniel Sturridge could seek a move away from Anfield in January to boost his World Cup chances.

The 28-year-old has started just four league games for Liverpool so far this season but has failed to feature in each of their last two matches, and given that he missed out on selection for Gareth Southgate’s most recent England squad, it’s clear that something has to change for Sturridge to make the 23-man squad in the summer.

And the striker could reportedly be on his way in January, and if he were to leave the club, here are TWO other stars who could follow him out of Anfield in the New Year…

Danny Ings

It has been a testing time for Danny Ings since his move to Liverpool from Burnley back in 2015, with just 12 first team appearances to show for the last few years.

Injuries have blighted the striker’s progress at Anfield yet it does appear that he is slowly but surely getting back to fitness with seven games for the club’s Under-23 side this term, as well as a substitute’s cameo in the Reds’ Carabao Cup defeat to Leicester City back in September.

Thus, the one-time England international needs minutes on the field to start getting back to his best form, but that is unlikely to happen at Anfield given the plethora of attacking options available to Klopp, so a move away in January may be in the best interests of everyone involved.

Who knows, if Ings leaves, performs, and scores goals in the second half of the season, he could well be a late contender for Gareth Southgate’s England squad.

Emre Can

Emre Can’s contract situation has been well-known for a while now, yet it doesn’t appear that the Germany international is any nearer agreeing an extension at Liverpool.

The 23-year-old made the move to Anfield back in 2014 but struggled for regular football under former boss Brendan Rodgers, although he has since become a key part of the squad under Klopp.

Yet the midfielder’s contract runs out in the summer and no extension has as of yet been agreed, which leaves the Reds with a predicament as to whether to cash in on him during January, or let him go on a free transfer in the summer.

Thus, Can could well be on his way out of Liverpool in the New Year.
