The Liverpool and Watford fans in the Transfer Tavern are debating the possible result from their opening day fixture on Saturday and it’s certainly getting heated.
The Premier League is finally returning to our TV screens and grounds across the country this weekend with Arsenal and Leicester kicking off proceedings on Friday before the rest of the opening ties are played on Saturday and Sunday.
One of those Saturday fixtures sees Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool take on Marco Silva’s Watford as Liverpool look to get off to a positive start in their quest for the league title and Watford hoping to continue to avoid relegation.
Vicarage Road is never an easy place for opposition to go as Watford have proven they have a few surprises up their sleeves.
Any Premier League tie is usually settled by only a handful of factors on the day.
With that being said, here are the two things that will decide Liverpool v Watford on Saturday.
Will Coutinho play?
Amidst strong rumours linking Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona it wouldn’t be surprising to not see him feature in the starting line-up.
This isn’t to say he is probably leaving but the last thing Klopp needs is a player on the field with his mind elsewhere, especially in the opening game of the season.
Of course, Liverpool fans will be hoping their star player stays and if he does play on Saturday he could easily decide the tie, but it may be best for him to sit this one out.
How the new signings fit in
Liverpool and Watford have brought in a big number of players combined during this summer’s transfer window.
Whilst obviously not all of them are going to feature in the opening game of the season, the ones that do will play a big role in the game.
Fitting in at a new club can be a difficult task especially in the Premier League with such high expectations from all clubs.
If the likes of Nathaniel Chalobah and Andrew Roberts play well for their new club then it could have a big impact on the tie.
