Top of the pile as we stand, the Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are absolutely delighted about the nature of life under Jose Mourinho right now.
Indeed, with his squad looking in great shape in the Premier League, the resident Red Devils propping up our bar are dreaming about winning the top prize in England for the first time without Sir Alex Ferguson.
So, as if things couldn’t get any better right now, reports from the Sun have gone down rather well. They claim Luke Shaw is in line for a new contract extension at Old Trafford, despite being criticised by Mourinho last term.
The England international seemed to invoke the ire of his boss with some of his performances, though has been previously reported to have impressed the Portuguese with his commitment to getting over his injury.
He has just 10 months to run on his deal at the moment and is believed to be in line for another 12 months as United look to protect their investment. Shaw arrived from Southampton in the summer of 2014 for around £27m, though has struggled with injuries, despite his obvious potential.
Touted for big things by our resident drinkers, they’re glad he’s looking like staying at the Theatre of Dreams.
Landlord’s Verdict:
A good move by United. While Shaw may have struggled to truly embark on the upward trajectory predicted for him by so many, few would doubt his potential.
If Mourinho can get him right, United have perhaps the best full-back in the country to welcome into their squad.
Thoughts?
