Manchester United have already made major changes to their squad this summer as they continue rebuilding under Michael Carrick.
Following Casemiro’s departure, the Red Devils strengthened their midfield with the arrivals of Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa and Andrey Santos from Chelsea in deals worth a combined fee of close to £85 million.
However, United are far from finished in the transfer market.
Now, it appears they are exploring a move for one of the breakout stars of the 2026 World Cup.
Man Utd Hold Talks with Orlando Gill
According to DSports, via The Metro, Manchester United have held talks over signing San Lorenzo goalkeeper Orlando Gill, with the news confirmed by the player’s agent.
Gill enjoyed a remarkable World Cup with Paraguay, playing every minute as his country reached the last 16, producing a string of outstanding displays along the way.
The shot-stopper kept clean sheets against Turkey and Australia in the group stage before becoming the hero of Paraguay’s penalty shootout victory over Germany, saving spot-kicks from Kai Havertz and Nick Woltemade. He also finished the tournament with 28 saves, more than any other goalkeeper.
Speaking about his client’s future, agent Mario Jara confirmed interest from Old Trafford.
“We are in talks with English clubs, as well as clubs in Germany. There were enquiries from Manchester United,” he said. “We only received two concrete offers. We are currently in the negotiation phase.”
With André Onana’s future still uncertain, United’s interest in Gill suggests the club could yet strengthen between the posts before the transfer window closes.
