All of a sudden it seems that Spurs have ignited the title race, and our resident Lilywhites are strapping themselves in for a grandstand finish in the Premier League.
Although Mauricio Pochettino’s men sit seven points of leaders Chelsea, could Spurs achieve the impossible and win their first Premier League?
Forever the realist, our landlord in the Tavern would be surprised to see anyone but Chelsea win the league but knows pressure will tell if Spurs continue to win their remaining fixtures within the season.
The return of Harry Kane last weekend has coincided with the league run in and there is no doubt that Spurs fans in the Tavern are thrilled to have their talisman back, although the results were still positive in Kane’s absence.
Bournemouth are the visitors to White Hart Lane this weekend and with the Cherries having the third worst defence in the league this season, our landlord feels the goals could flow if Eddie Howe’s men aren’t careful.
Although – saying this, when these two sides met earlier in the season at the Vitality Stadium, Bournemouth managed to scrap it out for a goalless draw which shows they can hold the best in the league on their day.
With that said, the resident Spurs fans in the Tavern have outlined the line up that Pochettino must go with in order to make sure they get a result against Bournemouth.
Let’s take a look at the XI…..
GK: Hugo Lloris
An outstanding member in Spurs’ line up. Lloris has had another sensational season at White Hart Line.
The French man has led his side from the front and our landlord expects him to do the same here.
CB: Eric Dier
Our landlord expects Pochettino to go back to a 3-4-2-1 formation which would see England man, Dier slot back in to a back 3.
The former Benfica man is a very versatile member of the Spurs’ squad and has really proved his worth this season.
CB: Toby Alderweireld
The 28 year old has really impressed our landlord with some stellar performances for Spurs this season.
The Belgium international is a real leader of Spurs’ back line which has been mighty steely this season.
CB: Jan Vertonghen
In his fifth season at White Hart Lane, Vertonghan has gained cult hero status among our resident Spurs’ fans in the Tavern.
Like Alderweireld, the Belgium international has impressed our landlord with some impressive performances this season.
RWB: Kyle Walker
Although Pochettino has rotated Walker with Kieran Trippier in recent weeks, our landlord expects the England international to take the field for this one.
Bournemouth will have to be aware of Walker’s tendency to join in with Spurs’ attacks, offering a huge threat from the right hand side of the park.
CM: Victor Wanyama
Although the Kenyan missed last week’s 4-0 win at Watford with a back injury, our landlord fully expects Wanyama to return for this one.
Spurs fans in the Tavern have been thrilled with the former Southampton man’s impact in what is his first season at White Hart Lane.
CM: Mousa Dembélé
Another unsung hero in Spurs’ strong Premier League season, Dembélé has impressed our landlord with some real solid performances.
The Belgium international has really complemented Wanyama this season as they’ve won the majority of midfield battles they’ve been in.
LWB: Ben Davies
With Danny Rose still sidelined with a knee injury, our landlord expects Ben Davies to keep his place in Mauricio Pochettino’s line up.
There is no doubt that Spurs fans in the Tavern have been impressed by Davies impact since he took over from Rose, with some even commenting it’ll be harder for the England international to regain his place in the side.
CAM: Dele Alli
Dele has hit form at the right time and Spurs fans in the Transfer Tavern have been thrilled that the England international took the goal scoring and attacking burden following Harry Kane’s injury.
With a strong end to the season in sight, Dele’s performances could well determine where Spurs finish at the end of the season.
CAM: Christian Eriksen
The Danish international has had a wonderful season and our landlord argues regularly that the 25 year old has been Spurs’ best player this season.
Our Tottenham fans in the Tavern have also enjoyed Eriksen’s displays this season which have seen him contribute to the constant threat the Mauricio Pochettino’s men posses.
ST: Harry Kane
His return from the bench last weekend bought massive cheers from the Spurs fans in the Transfer Tavern, there is no doubt that Harry Kane is a fans favourite among the White Hart Lane faithful.
Our landlord points to Bournemouth’s leaky defence being the perfect catalyst for Kane to add to his tally of 19 goals in the Premier League this season.
