It’s been a weekend to forget for all the Spurs fans at the Transfer Tavern.

Defeat away at West Ham has all but ended their pursuit of a first league title since 1961.

Most of the regulars here are seeing shades of the Tottenham team from last season that saw their title challenge implode by failing to win any of their final four league games.

Mauricio Pochettino and his team will be desperate to get back to winning ways against a Manchester United side whose focus is clearly on the Europa League.

A lacklustre display in their defeat against Arsenal will give the Spurs boss plenty of confidence for the last ever match at White Hart Lane, and help to salvage some pride after his own side’s less than impressive outing last time.

There has been plenty of discussion at the bar as to as to why Spurs couldn’t find the break through at West Ham, and what changes need to be made to make the most of Jose Mourinhos’ boys’ dip in form.

If they want to leave the lane on a high then Pochettino needs to pick this starting eleven….

GK: Hugo Lloris

Spurs will need their captain to be at his best if he wants to add to his 15 clean sheets that he’s already kept this season.

Having established himself as one of the best keepers in the Premier League over the last few years, Lloris will be keen to show exactly why he is so important to Tottenham with a solid display against Rashford and co.

CB: Jan Vertonghen

Jan Vertonghen has been instrumental in shoring up Spurs back line and his ability to break forward with the ball is always a thread.

Whichever frontline United deploy they will have to be at their best to get past one of the most assured defenders in the league having one of his best seasons in England.

CB: Eric Dier

There has been plenty of speculation about the future of Eric Dier over the last few months, with Man United being linked with a swoop for the England man and it’s easy for us to see why.

Diers’ versatility allows for him to step into a defensive midfield role as Spurs press forward and comfortably drop back into a solid back three when United break forward.

CB: Toby Alderweireld

Tottenham’s brilliant defensive record is in no small part down to Toby Alderweireld’s emergence as one of the best central defenders in the league.

Even with the aerial threat of Fellaini and Pogba, Mourinho’s men will find it tough.

With the ability to see a 40 yard pass and very dangerous going forward, Alderweireld will be a key player in the final game at the lane.

LWB: Ben Davies

With Danny Rose out, Ben Davies has been a solid performer in this very exciting Tottenham side.

Although not as speedy up and down the line as Rose, the Welshman has been a reliable understudy and has the potential to make things very difficult for United’s flying forwards.

With a couple of standout performances between now and the end of the season, he could give Pochettino a few more headaches over the summer.

RWB: Kieran Trippier

Talk of Kyle Walker’s future has seen him give a few sub par performances since his return from injury.

In that time Kieran Trippier has proved more than adequate cover.

While he doesn’t possess quite the pace of his fellow countryman, Trippier’s quick counter attacking style and first time crosses have the ability to carve open United’s back line and his composure in defence is as reliable as any full back.

CM: Victor Wanyama

Surely one of Tottenham’s best signings in recent years.

The dynamic Kenyan has the ability to break up play and be a constant thorn in the side of Pogba and the rest of Man United’s very expensive midfield.

Wanyama is an engine in the middle of this Spurs team and will work tirelessly to ensure that the opposition don’t put too many slick moves together.

CM: Moussa Dembele

Another one of Tottenham’s brilliant Belgian contingency.

Moussa Dembele has been at the club for a few years now and becomes more important as the years go on.

He seems to effortlessly breeze past the opposition like they’re not there sometimes.

With his long legs and imposing strength, Dembele can frustrate any team.

One of his greatest strengths is keeping possession and Pochettino will want him to be at his best against another formidable foe this weekend.

AM: Dele Alli

Dele Alli is one of those players who can conjure up a moment of magic out of nowhere, and Spurs fans will be hoping he can keep up another impressive season with a top quality display against United.

His partnership with Harry Kane strikes fear into any defence and he will need all his tenacity and creativity to beat Mourinho’s men.

AM: Christian Eriksen

Another Spurs player with the ability to create an opportunity out of nowhere.

Eriksen’s vision and set-piece ability could be the deciding factor between the teams if it stays on a knife edge for too long.

Against West Ham, Spurs seemed to run out of ideas going forward but they are a different beast at the lane and the creative Dane will be vital in picking their way through United’s defence.

ST: Harry Kane

Who wouldn’t bet on Spurs’ talisman grabbing the last goal at White Hart Lane?

Harry Kane can’t stop scoring and if he hadn’t picked up two injuries earlier on in the season it’s very likely he’d be top of the scoring charts.

But in his third consecutive season of scoring over 20 league goals, Kane shows no sign of slowing down and Pochettino will be hoping that he and the rest of the boys will help them leave White Hart Lane on a high.
