Particularly in the Sir Alex Ferguson era, it seemed like each week on Match of the Day there was an incredible goal or three on show as Manchester United battered another opponent.
Whether it’s David Beckham’s halfway line strike, Paul Scholes’ thundering volley or Ronaldo’s superb dipping free-kick against Portsmouth – United fans will always have an iconic strike they can recount when at the Tavern.
With the disastrous Moyes era and mundane Van Gaal days not yielding too much for the highlight reels, a lot of United fans are probably spending their days remembering the good old times rather than defeats to Watford.
Such is the volume of goals on offer however, it can be difficult to remember them all. That’s why here at the Tavern we’ve compiled a few that you might not remember.

RUUD VAN NISTELROOY vs Fulham, 2003
Rightly regarded as one of the greatest penalty-box poachers of the Premier League era, it feels unusual to have Van Nistelrooy start this list off.
Some United fans may have even forgotten that he was capable of more than just being in the right place at the right time.
Most of the Dutchman’s 150 strikes were from mere yards out, but against Fulham he showed he is capable of doing it all on his own, running half the pitch before coolly slotting past Fulham’s Maik Taylor.
CRISTIANO RONALDO vs West Ham, 2008
Cristiano Ronaldo’s is the name in the caption, but make no mistake – this goal is all about the assist.
You can accuse Dimitar Berbatov of not working as hard as he perhaps could have, but you couldn’t take anything away from him here.
The Bulgarian was one of the classiest players in Premier League history and demonstrated it by turning his defender inside out before laying on one of the easiest goals in Cristiano Ronaldo’s career.
CRISTIANO RONALDO vs Porto, 2009
I know Ronaldo has already appeared in this list once, but it would be remiss to not include one of the greatest goals of his Manchester United career.
The Portuguese managed 118 goals in his time with the Red Devils, with one of the best this strike against Porto in the Quarter-Final.
Picking the ball up in space just shy of 40 yards out, Ronaldo hit an unstoppable rocket into the top corner.
United went on to reach the final that year but lost to Barcelona in what proved to be Ronaldo’s final season.
