Everton have put an huge £75 million price tag on the head of Romelu Lukaku in a desperate attempt to ward off others clubs and keep the Belgian striker at Goodison Park next season – according to reports from the Daily Express.
The move comes following Lukaku’s comments after Belgium crashed out of Euro 2016 in a shock 3-1 defeat to Wales, in which the striker claimed he ‘needed to talk to the club’ when questioned about his future on merseyside.
The once Chelsea man also agitated many Toffees fans by asserting that he needs to play Champions League football in order to continue his career.
Lukaku’s former club are the front-runners in securing his signature this summer having already stated their interest in signing the man they bought to the Premier League from Anderlecht back in 2011 for a fee of £17 million, only to sell him on to Everton in 2014 for a tidy £11 million profit.
Now it seems if the Blues are to bring Lukaku back to the Bridge, they would have to pay a club and Premier League record fee – one the Chelsea fans here at the Football Transfer Tavern feel could be better spent elsewhere.

Gonzalo Higuain
The Argentine is arguably the world’s most in-form striker as it stands – despite possibly Luis Suarez – have enjoyed a terrific season for both Napoli and a fine Copa America with Argentina, even though his side failed at the last hurdle once again.
His total for the season: 43. You cannot argue with that.
Antoine Griezmann
The chase for Euro 2016’s current top scorer is not over, even though Griezmann recently signed a new deal with current club Atletico Madrid.
It is thought the new contract could be a ploy to command a bigger transfer fee for the Frenchman, which now could been the region of around £83 million.
It is certainly a huge fee and a little over £75 million – but Griezmann is a world class forward.
Alexandre Lacazette
Linked with West Ham, Tottenham, Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool and of course Chelsea, Ligue 1’s top scorer of 2014/15 and last years runner up is a man in high demand.
Fast, intelligent and a brilliant finisher, the only thing that has prevented a move to England so far this summer is his hefty £43.5 million price tag.
