Chelsea may have had a difficult season, but they still have important games ahead of them before the campaign draws to a close.
The Blues are still in the race for Champions League qualification, though it is now out of their hands, as they are 10 points adrift of Aston Villa in fifth and will need results to go their way in the final four Premier League fixtures to achieve it.
Not only that, they are once again without a manager after Liam Rosenior was sacked last week, and the hunt for their next figure in the dugout will consume much of the club’s time over the coming weeks.
Calum McFarlane is leading the squad into their final Premier League games and has already made good progress with the West London outfit, having guided the team to the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium next month.
Chelsea fans will be under no illusion that reaching a cup final solves all their issues and will instead view it as a distraction from an otherwise inconsistent and disappointing season.
Beyond the right managerial appointment, recruitment will be a key focus for Chelsea this summer, and getting it right could be the difference between pushing on next season or remaining stagnant.
According to The Athletic’s James Pearce, Chelsea and Bayern Munich are both keen on signing Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon.
Writing on X, Pearce revealed:
“Anthony Gordon came close to joining Liverpool two years ago when a £75m fee was agreed before Newcastle pulled the plug.”
“He could be sold this summer, but LFC’s interest is unlikely to be revived. Bayern Munich are leading the chase, with Chelsea also keen.”
Should Chelsea sign Anthony Gordon?

Among many problems, Chelsea’s attacking threat has been a consistent concern over the last few years, despite spending huge amounts of money to paper over the cracks.
The Blues have had a long-term interest in Gordon since his Everton days, but now there is a real opportunity to secure his services, with Newcastle willing to part ways.
Over 46 appearances in all competitions this season, the 25-year-old has scored 17 goals and registered five assists, in one of his very best seasons for output in front of goal.
While he predominantly operates as a left winger, he is more than capable of playing across the front three and has proven his versatility on numerous occasions for Newcastle.
Chelsea already boasts a wealth of attacking options, with the likes of Joao Pedro, Cole Palmer and Pedro Neto all more than capable of finding the back of the net; however, Gordon offers much more.
His tireless work rate is one of his most impactful attributes, and combined with exceptional pace and aggressive pressing, he could be a huge asset for Chelsea, unlocking a far more direct approach.
With that being said, it will be interesting to see if Chelsea are willing to formalise their interest in Gordon with an approach this summer, and whether they would be prepared to enter a potential bidding war with Bayern.
