3 Euro 2016 finalists Mourinho should bring to United

The Euro 2016 final is nearly upon us, and the bar staff here at the Football Transfer Tavern are preparing for one of the busiest days of the year.

With the host nation France going up against the 2004 European Championship runners up, Portugal. Both sides host a flurry of world class players capable of moments of magic that can change any game in their teams favour and, after their disappointing outing in the Premier League last season, that is exactly what Jose Mourinho’s Man United need.

It’s no secret that if most players across Europe get the opportunity to play under the legendary Portuguese manager, then they are going to take that chance. This gives Old Trafford the draw which it has not had since Alex Ferguson left. The attraction of playing for the Red Devils is slowly starting to drop as they continue to disappoint domestically and on the European stage.

However, as the United fans drinking in the bar tonight have been discussing, if they are to re-live their glory days then Mourinho should bring in these THREE Euro 2016 finalists…

Cristiano Ronaldo

A club legend in the red side of Manchester, if Cristiano Ronaldo lifts the European Championship in Paris on Sunday evening, I can’t help but think he’ll retire in a few years. What else would he have to prove?

A multi time Champions League and Ballon d’Or winner, amongst many other accolades, winning the Euro’s this summer would top it all off for the Portuguese captain. If there is any club in the world the 31-year-old would leave Real Madrid for, it’s United, and with the chance to play under former Madrid coach Jose Mourinho again, perhaps former Sporting Lisbon man could be tempted to swap the Santiago Bernabeu for Old Trafford.

Blaise Matuidi

Morgan Schneiderlin has had a tough debut season at Old Trafford, only scoring 1 goal in all competitions and having no real standout performances for the Red Devils.

If Mourinho is looking to bulk up his new United side then maybe a new defensive midfielder should be on his mind, and Blaise Matuidi has had an excellent Euro 2016 so far. The 29-year-old holding midfielder is a very strong defensively and acts as a wall sitting just in front of the defence and although United’s main issue last season was the amount of goals scored, a player of the Paris Saint Germain man’s quality is never going to hurt a team’s chances of success.

Lucas Digne

Dignedignedigne

Digne is more so one for the future, but what a future this 22-year-old left back has. The Paris Saint Germain man, who had a successful loan spell at Roma last season, would be an excellent squad player should Luke Shaw or Rojo suffer similar injury clouded seasons like they did during the 2015/16 season.

Although he’s had no real experience at the level Man United play at, everybody’s got to start somewhere and should he be needed, the French international will definitely be capable enough to step in.

United fans, what do you make of this list? How much would you like to see these three at Old Trafford? Have we missed anyone out? Let us know in the comments below…
