The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern still really aren’t sure what to make of their summer business. 

Indeed, while the Blues in the bar were delighted to see well over £100m spent, though Antonio Conte’s squad somehow remains pretty thin and the Ross Barkley fiasco has seriously annoyed our punters.

Michael Emenalo and Marina Granovskaia are understood to have taken a more prominent role in transfer proceedings, only to see the Everton midfielder snub a move at the last minute.

Emenalo, in particular, has proved to be a divisive figure amongst our punters. Chelsea’s technical director, the 52-year-old has often invoked the ire of the Shed End faithful over the years for his perceived intrusion on managerial matters, so he’s not a popular man in our bar.

Amid previous suggestions Conte is unhappy at Stamford Bridge, the drinkers in tonight believe Emenalo should do his very best to appease the Italian in January and should already be working to avoid another transfer mishap.

With that in mind, here’s a look at 3 signings Emenalo should hand Conte in January.

Faouzi Ghoulam

When January comes, there will surely be few better value potential signings than Faouzi Ghoulam. The Napoli star will be out of contract in the summer, so perhaps the Serie A giants would be willing to sell while they still can.

The Algerian could act as cover and competition in equal measure for Marcos Alonso, able to operate as either a wing-back on the left or a standard left-back.

Likely to have many suitors, the 26-year-old would be a wonderful signing.

Marcos Llorente

With the likes of Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Casemiro, Isco and Marco Asensio all able to operate in central midfield berths, Marcos Llorente will likely struggle for minutes at Real Madrid.

The classy 22-year-old defensive midfielder would be a solid addition at the Bridge and Conte could be the ideal coach to help him develop.

Ross Barkley

Whatever happened with Barkley on deadline day doesn’t take away from the fact he’d be a very good signing for Chelsea.

Indeed, the England international may have found life difficult of late, though working under Conte would surely see him develop into the player so many have hoped he’d have already become.
