Over the years Liverpool have spent a lot of money to varying degrees of success, much to the despair of the local Reds fans in the Transfer Tavern.
Likewise it’s caused many opposing fans to sit and laugh at some of the deals and who can blame them when players like Alberto Aquilani and Josemi have been on the club’s books.
Nevertheless, for every Christian Poulsen there’s been a Xabi Alonso and so sometimes the Reds do actually get it right in the market.
This season in particular, things are looking fairly promising.
The new signings seem to have gelled with the crop from last year and the attacking verve of the side is something to be wary of if you’re the other team.
It suggests that the Reds are getting things right in the market and our landlord certainly thinks this is the case with some of their buys over the last few years.

Philippe Coutinho
As soon as Coutinho signed in early 2013 people could tell he had the potential to be a very talented player.
Wind forward three years that’s certainly been proven correct with the Brazilian churning out a number of hugely impressive performances.
He’s started this season in great form and if he can keep this up consistently he could really lead Liverpool to something special.
Consistency is now the key for the South American.
Sadio Mane
Mane already looks like a top signing after joining from Southampton with a number of standout performances so far.
He tore Arsenal apart on his competitive debut with a final solo goal to cap it off and since then he has been near impossible to stop.
Many wondered how he would get on with the label of being the Reds marquee signing of the summer, but so far it’s been water off a ducks back, Jurgen Klopp will hope it continues.
Roberto Firmino
Firmino’s movement up front is frighteningly good.
He almost drifts in and out of games but comes alive with the ball at his feet and nearly always delivers a good pass or attempt on goal.
He seemed rejuvenated when Jurgen Klopp arrived at Anfield last season and with his combination play with the likes of Coutinho and Adam Lallana only set to improve over this campaign, he could be a real asset for years to come for the Reds.
