3 players Celtic fans need to say bye-bye to in January

Celtic’s 5-1 thumping of arch rivals Rangers may have had the Bhoys in the Transfer Tavern dancing on the pool tables, though things haven’t been as good since.

Perhaps the loss to Barcelona and draw with Inverness since have suggested the size of the job at hand for Brendan Rodgers is far more deep rooted than first thought.

Though the former Liverpool coach’s transfer policy has worked out so far, with the likes of Moussa Dembele, Scott Sinclair and Kolo Toure impressing.

Still, there’s little doubt the Scottish champions have some deadwood in their squad, largely picked up during the Ronny Deila era at Parkhead.

As Rodgers looks to further streamline his squad, perhaps it is more of a project than first thought after a strong start to the campaign.

With that in mind, who should the Northern Irishman keep?

Here are THREE players Celtic really need to bid goodbye to in January.

Efe Ambrose

The arrival of Kolo Toure has given the Bhoys a strong partner for Erik Sviatchenko at long last, with Efe Ambrose pushed further down the pecking order.

Simply makes too many mistakes to be relied upon.

Kris Commons

A great servant to the club, though there looks like being little space for Kris Commons as the Hoops move into a new era.

James Forrest and Scott Sinclair give searing pace to the flanks, while both Patrick Roberts and Stuart Armstrong can provide backup.

That being said, it’s time to say farewell to Commons, who proved more of a burden at times during last season.

Nadir Çiftçi

Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths are two thoroughly lethal strikers at most levels, giving little need to keeping Nadir Çiftçi in Glasgow.

Has found it difficult to reproduce the sort of form he showed at Dundee United and doesn’t seem to fit Rodgers’ style of play.
