Our Rangers fans here in the Tavern are pleased overall with their first season back in the Scottish Premier League, but deep down it is hurting them to see rivals Celtic so far adrift.

However, it is positive nonetheless for the Gers, who under Mark Warburton will be confident of rebuilding and challenging Celtic even closer next season, while he will hope to use the rest of this term to narrow the current points gap.

Our punters over at the dartboard have suggested that Warburton could do with dipping into the transfer market, especially to look for some midfield additions. Our landlord agrees, and thinks with a few quality additions, Rangers can improve even more than they already have done thus far.

With that in mind, here’s THREE midfielders who could slot into the Rangers team if signed in January…

Ross Wallace

Sheffield Wednesday man Wallace looks well set to move on at some point, with the Owls adding better players to their squad with every window.

The former Preston man though would no doubt relish a move to Rangers, and with his quality he would still be a great addition to Warburton’s side.

His dead ball skill and ability to score the spectacular would add another dimension to the Gers.

Lee Chung-Yong

Crystal Palace midfielder Chung-Yong has always struggled to maintain a starting berth in the Premier League, and a move to Rangers on loan or even permanently could inspire his career.

The tricky play-maker is a class act on his day, and in the Scottish Premier League would be a handful for every defence.

Josh Morris

Scunthorpe man Morris has been a revelation this season out on the wing, and his goals have rocketed Scunthorpe right up towards the top of the league.

However, a move to Rangers and such a big club in Scotland could entice Morris away, and Mark Warburton will no doubt be keen to add someone of his quality to the ranks.

He would no doubt cost a decent fee, but he would definitely slot straight into the Rangers team if signed.
