If you’re a Rangers fan in the Transfer Tavern it’s probably fair to say you’ve got your head down still- the wounds of the Old Firm defeat to Celtic are still running deep!
It was a tough afternoon for everyone associated with the club on Saturday as they were outclassed by a Celtic side not keen on giving them a friendly welcome back into the top flight of Scottish football.
Mark Warburton’s side fell 5-1 at Celtic Park in a game they never looked like winning.
Even the landlord here at the pub didn’t see such a once sided game coming our way.
But despite the humbling defeat, the Gers have acquitted themselves pretty well on their reintroduction to the top flight and there are some players that have been worthy of plenty of praise.
So with that in mind, here’s THREE Rangers stars we think are worth their weight in gold- do you agree?
James Tavernier
Was arguably one of Rangers’ players of the season last time out and he’s brought the same energy and pace to the right-hand flank again this campaign.
Will continue to be one of their key men this season too and if he can reproduce a fraction of last season’s form then he’ll continue to be as valuable as he was last time out.
Kenny Miller
Manager Mark Warburton has managed to instil a real attacking edge in this Rangers team since his appointment and one of the spearheads is a certain Kenny Miller.
Now in his third spell with the club, even at 36 years of age, he’s finding the back of net on plenty of occasions, scoring twice already this season.
He’ll be looking to get as close as possible to his haul of 20 last time out but whichever which way you look at it, Kenny Miller has been a real servant to the Ibrox cause.
He’s definitely one that is worth his weight in gold.
Josh Windass
He’s yet to truly make an impression on the big stage for Rangers but he was one out of few that really tried to turn the game around against Celtic last weekend.
The former Accrington Stanley man was direct and full-of-running all afternoon as he tried to trouble the Bhoys’ defence.
His success was limited but you could tell that edge was there.
There is plenty more to come from this young man and in the very near future, if he keeps turning out promising appearances, he could be worth his weight in gold…
