3 reasons why Romelu Lukaku is without doubt Chelsea’s ideal Diego Costa replacement

Our Chelsea fans can’t get enough of this season here in the Transfer Tavern and genuinely believe it’s only a matter of time now until they win the league.

Indeed, you can’t really blame them for thinking that after this weekend’s results.

The Blues swept aside Arsenal 3-1 as the Gunners fell out of the title race whilst Liverpool also completely blew their already slim chances by losing to Hull City.

Spurs are now the nearest challengers nine points away and so for many it’s game over for the league crown.

The Blues, then, need to start planning for the future to continue their success and our landlord reckons signing Romelu Lukaku as Diego Costa’s heir up top would make perfect sense.

Costa has been in fine form this season but will eventually need to be replaced and the ever-improving Lukaku could be ideal to come in – here are three reasons why…

 He’s potentially world class

The powerful Belgian is completely unstoppable at times and once he can find a way of being like that week in week out he will be considered world class.

That kind of potential has to be attractive to Chelsea, then, as well as plenty of other European clubs and so they must be thinking about a move. Costa is world class at the moment and perhaps having the two work together initially could prove the way to get the best out of the Belgian.

 He knows the club

There would be no issues, you’d think, of settling in for Lukaku at Stamford Bridge.

The young striker has already been at the club in being one of the their many promising starlets and so a move back to London shouldn’t be too problematic. He’d be a much lower-risk player to take on over other strikers, then, and our landlord sees him being able to take it all in his stride.

 He fits Chelsea’s style

Chelsea, for some time now, have been at their best with a powerful, bustling forward leading their line.

Over the last few years the likes of Diego Costa and Didier Drogba have been their best forwards and both have the ability to batter centre-halves out of the way and score all kinds of goals. Lukaku more than fits that description and our landlord thinks he’d be the next Chelsea striking hero.
