After a last gasp victory against FC Astana on Wednesday evening, you could be excused for believing that the hard part has already been done as Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic look to reach the Champions League group stages.

But with one more qualifying round still to go and a big SPL season on the horizon, there is still much for the former Liverpool boss to be getting on with as the new season edges ever closer.

And the question on the lips of many Celtic supporters around the world is what sort of a team can we come to expect from Rodgers’ Celtic?

We know him well from his time with Liverpool, but this is a different job with wholly different expectations.

So with that in mind, here’s THREE things we can expect from Rodgers’ Celtic tenure…..

A no-nonsense style of play

As we saw at both Swansea City and Liverpool, Brendan Rodgers has a philosophy and he likes direct, free-flowing football centred on a quick-passing game.

Many believe this to be the most direct style of football in the modern-era, and it is this sort of no-nonsense play that will achieve results in a league like the SPL.

Rodgers has inherited a talented squad who should understand his philosophy quick enough, but after unconvincing wins over two fixtures against the Red Imps and Astana in the Champions League, Rodgers may have more work on his hands than originally thought.

Passion by the bucket load

Like him or not, there is no question that Brendan Rodgers has the passion and drive needed to reinstate Celtic as Scottish League top-dogs.

In him, we expect to see a squad full of endeavour, hard-work and most importantly, players that will play for each other when the going gets tough.

If he can get a sense of drive and determination across in such a short space of time, there is little doubt he can bring the Hoops success this season.

A taste for developing the academy

Perhaps the most exciting characteristic he will bring to Celtic Park- the ability to nurture and improve young talent.

We saw at Liverpool that he wasn’t afraid to bring in academy prospects and throw them into the first-team at the first time of asking to see how they fared on the big stage, and expect more of the same at Celtic.

Celtic have one of the best footballing academies in England, and as well as the importance of the Old Firm etc, expect the development of young players to be right at the top of Rodgers’ to-do list.
