It’s not quite gone to plan since Sam Allardyce took over at Crystal Palace.

It got worse for the former England boss as punters here at the Transfer Tavern witnessed his side get hammered 3-0 by West Ham last time out.

It’s about to get harder with a game against an Everton side that just smashed Manchester City 4-0 at Goodison Park.

Big Sam will be hoping that the Toffees get ahead of themselves after that win and that his Palace side can take advantage of them.

Palace have been active in the transfer window and they’ll for sure need to bring in a few more players if they are to survive relegation- but with Allardyce in charge, the club have every chance in avoiding the dreaded drop.

It’ll be a tough ask but if he get’s his team selection just right, he may well be able to upset Everton after their triumph last Sunday.

GK: WAYNE HENNESSEY

With Steve Mandanda injured it has meant that Wayne Hennessey has been given the chance to feature.

Though, the Welshman has been less than convincing for Palace and they’ll surely be hoping Mandanda returns soon.

He was questioned for West Ham’s first goal and he wasn’t getting anywhere near Carroll’s goal.

We expect to see him start though.

RB: JAMES TOMKINS

The former Hammer had a return to forget in the last game as they conceded three goals, but he’s been very reliable for Palace since arriving in the summer from West Ham.

He’s featured at both right-back and centre-back but with the rumoured soon to arrive Carl Jenkinson – Tomkins may feature in his preferred centre-back soon.

CB: SCOTT DANN

Tipped by many for an England call-up in recent years, but not so much this season as hasn’t looked his solid self in recent weeks.

He’ll need to be at his very best in this one to keep Lukaku and Mirallas quiet in this game.

CB: DAMIEN DELANEY

The veteran defender is a very average player at best but he always seems to put a shift in for Palace.

The former Ipswich man along with Dann will have their work cut out with the likes of Lukaku, Mirallas and potentially Lookman coming up against them.

It’ll be a tough game and he’ll need to be at his very best.

LB: JEFFREY SCHLUPP

A Premier League champion with Leicester City last season and now has signed for Palace, but he finds himself in a relegation battle.

The Ghanaian has been here before with his former club and was vital for Nigel Pearson and keeping his side up.

That experience and his pace going forward could be key in this final half of the season.

CDM: YOHAN CABAYE

The former PSG and Newcastle man hasn’t been as good as he was in England previously, and the Palace fans will surely want more from him in this tough time.

He’ll have a great battle to keep out a strong looking Everton attacking line-up, as well as a battle in the middle of the park with the likes of Davies and Barry.

One to watch for sure.

CDM: JAMES McARTHUR

The Scotland international will need to bring his A game against the strong high-flying Everton this weekend.

Palace really need to improve in the middle of the park this window if they are to survive the drop.

LM: ANDROS TOWNSEND

The former Spurs and Newcastle man hasn’t been as game changing as he was for Palace last season.

He must start to kick on from his performance in the last game and improve big time against a strong Everton side, and start to show the quality we all know he has.

CAM: JOE LEDLEY

The Welsh international has been a solid player for the last few seasons for Palace and a good performance is much needed in this fixture ,as they look to kick on and push away from the dreaded relegation spots.

Ledley could be a key figure for Allardyce in this turbulent period.

RM: JASON PUNCHEON

He’s been really quiet this season.

Normally you hear his name all the time from the commentators when he’s on the pitch, but for some reason he hasn’t really turned up this season.
He can cause many teams problems and be a real annoyance for any team he faces.

ST: CHRISTIAN BENTEKE

With Palace struggling its been rumoured that Benteke could be on the move again with Paris Saint-Germain interested in him, and maybe the interest has halted his on field performances as he’s not been as good as he was when he first arrived at Selhurst Park.

He’s suited to the style we’ve become accustomed to from Allardyce as a manager and if they can get the ball to him in a strong position he will cause defence’s nightmares every time.

This game could be a battle of the Belgians with him and Lukaku!
