Even our landlord here at the Transfer Tavern has been pleasantly surprised by how well Leeds United have done under Garry Monk!
It’s been great for the former Swansea City man, he’s really helped pump life back into a Leeds side that’s struggled in recent years.
He’s also managed to keep hold of his job, which under the owner at Leeds, is no easy feat.
Monk was superb during his spell as manager of Swansea and he’s for sure carried that on in his current role.
It’s vital that his side don’t let it slip in the last few stages of the season as they try their best to make a long awaited return to top-flight football.
With that in mind, Garry Monk must field this starting XI to beat their Yorkshire rivals and play-off rivals, Sheffield Wednesday this weekend…
GK: ROBERT GREEN

The former England international didn’t make the best start to life at Elland Road as he made a number of silly errors that led to silly goals conceded.
But in the past few months his experience has shone through and he’s made some outstanding saves at important times for Leeds, he just needs to maintain it!
LB: LUKE AYLING

With Charlie Taylor currently injured, it has meant that former Arsenal and Yeovil defender Luke Ayling has been given more time on the pitch and he’s shown why he should be in contention, even when Taylor is fit.
A superb English full-back who could try get back to Premier League football with Leeds.
CB: KYLE BARTLEY

Another former Gunners defender, who was initially given a chance by Monk at Swansea.
And it seems they formed quite the relationship in that time as Monk was reunited with him again at Leeds in a loan deal this season.
He’s also the current captain of the side and has been solid and reliable at the back when needed.
CB: PONTUS JANSSON

Easily one of, if not the best centre-backs in the Championship.
Initially on-loan from Torino in Italy, it now appears he’s made the move permanently and what a signing he is for Leeds.
He has been vital at times and will be for years to come.
RB: GAETANO BERARDI
The Swiss full-back has been superb at times for Leeds when called on this season and it’s hard to see him not featuring whilst he is fully fit.
An experienced and much needed strong full-back.
CDM: EUNAN O’KANE

O’Kane didn’t get many chances with Bournemouth last season and will be hoping he can gain promotion again from the Championship, but with Leeds this time.
The Ireland international has been superb in the heart of the Leeds midfield and has great link up play between defence and midfield.
CDM: LIAM BRIDCUTT

The former Sunderland man has been a revelation at Leeds and was a great addition to the team by Garry Monk.
The Scottish international has excellent experience of the league and knows what it takes to be a success in the Championship.
LW: Hadi Sacko

The loanee from Sporting has been sensational for the Whites so far this season.
His pace, directness and dribbling ability make him a real nuisance for opposition defenders.
Our landlord expects him to start the match against the Owls.
CAM: PABLO HERNANDEZ

A player who has worked with Garry Monk at Swansea City and was a big success and has shown that despite a spell away in the Middle East, that he still has what it takes and has since signed permanently for Leeds.
He still has the same slick skill he had whilst at the Swans and has been superb for his side when called upon this season.
RW: SOULEYMANE DOUKARA

Doukara has been classy on the flank for his team this season, scoring some superb goals and providing vital assists for his team.
The Senegalese winger has been somewhat the difference alongside Wood for Leeds this season – Monk has for sure got the best out of him this season.
ST: CHRIS WOOD

What can be said about the New Zealand international?
He has scored the most of amount of goals he’s ever scored in one season and it’s undoubtedly down to the faith that Monk has put in him.
He’s been one of the strikers of the season in the Championship this year and it seems he’s finally got his break.
