There is no doubt that the Arsenal camp in the Transfer Tavern is very divided at the moment and our landlord has had to act the peacemaker on a number of occasions.

The Gunners travel to the Riverside on Monday night to face a Middlesbrough side that are staring down the barrel at relegation but many of the Gunners in the Transfer Tavern are more concerned about the future of boss, Arsene Wenger.

The Frenchman has given a lot to the Gunners over his tenure in charge however many fans at the Emirates are wondering if it is time for Wenger to hand over the reigns to someone else.

Our landlord fears that if Wenger goes, it could lead to the departure of key men such as Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Özil although it is not clear what the repercussions may be if Wenger departs Arsenal.

One thing is for sure is that Arsenal need a result against Boro in order to keep their dreams of a top four finish alive. The Teeside club actually held their own when they visited the Emirates earlier in the season, forcing Petr Cech into three fine saves as they held the Gunners to a 0-0 draw.

With Boro proving they can hold the Gunners in that game, our resident Arsenal fans have outlined the XI that Wenger must go with in order to make sure he returns to north London with 3 points on Monday night.

Let’s take a look at the XI…

GK: Emiliano Martinez

The third choice ‘keeper has been in the side for the last few games and with Petr Cech and David Ospina still recovering from their issues he should play here.

RB: Hector Bellerin

The Spanish speedstar is slowly rediscovering his confidence following an inconsistent run of form.

Though he possess talent in abundance, our landlord feels Bellerin will view this season as a learning curve as he pursues the goal of becoming one of the best right backs in the world.

CB: Shkodran Mustafi

The German international has been fairly impressive in his first season at the Emirates but Arsenal fans are still calling for Mustafi to be more assured in defence.

Our landlord agrees but looks to Mustafi’s age of 24-years-old and states that he can only get better as a footballer.

CB: Laurent Koscielny

With Laurent Koscielny still out, Gabriel will once again fill in. He’s not the best defender in the world but Arsenal will have to make do with him for now.

LB: Nacho Monreal

Many Arsenal fans in the Tavern feel the club need to dip in to the market and really view the left back position as a weak part of their team at present.

Our landlord agrees that the Gunners should look to get a new left back in the summer, however Monreal has put in some honest shifts this season and should start here.

CDM: Mohamed Elneny

Elneny has been looking for a run in the Arsenal first team for a while and is currently enjoying a spell in Arsene Wenger’s side.

Our landlord feels the Egyptian deserves the chance he is currently getting following the ineffective performances of Francis Coquelin and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the position before him.

CDM: Granit Xhaka

Although there is no doubting of Xhaka’s talent from Arsenal fans in the Tavern, they are still expecting the Swiss international to wow them with his performances.

The Swiss international is best known for his poor discipline and our landlord feels this needs to change if he is to win over many of his critics, though.

RAM: Theo Walcott

A player that truly divides opinion, Gunners fans in the Tavern have endeared to Walcott of late due to his role of captaincy in the last few fixtures.

Our landlord thinks that his resident Arsenal fans are right to expect more from Walcott but feels Boro should see him as a big threat come Monday.

CAM: Mesut Özil

The creative force of Arsenal’s attacking threat, will Özil be able to unlock Boro’s defence come Monday night?

Our landlord believes the German international definitely holds the key for this one and expects him to create a mountain of chances against a struggling Middlesbrough side.

LAM: Alexis Sanchez

Without doubt Arsenal’s best player this season, there is no doubt the Chilean will give it his all to ensure his side brings away three points on Monday night.

Although his future is up in the air, Arsenal fans in the Tavern still have a profound love for their main man and many are praying that Alexis is a Gunner come next season.
