Manchester United haven’t quite hit the ground running as many expected following their activity in the transfer window.

We here at the Transfer Tavern feel that maybe with a bit of luck in the Europa League, it could help to push on Mourinho’s men.

The Red Devils have a tough task in the form of Dutch side Feyenoord – of whom have already beaten the Red Devils this season.

There’s been a lot of speculation around Wayne Rooney at Manchester United at the moment, whether or not captain Rooney should actually have a place in their side.

Manchester United have had their issues on the field with the big star players under performing, they’ll need to pick up their form in this tie.

United have struggled so far in the Europa League, with a defeat in match-day 1 to their opponents this Thursday Feyenoord ,and they struggled at Old Trafford against Ukrainian side Zorya Luhansk only winning 1-0.

Then last time out, they lost 2-1 to Fenerbahce, United need to make a quick turn around with a victory this time round.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at a potential team that could have enough about them to brush aside the in-form Dutch side Feyenoord….

DAVID DE GEA

Despite having Romero who would be a viable option in the Europa League – it is hard to look past the Spanish and United No.1

A solid performance from the Spanish keeper and United could be victorious.

RB: TIMOTHY FOSU-MENSAH

The young Dutch full-back is favoured for us here at the Tavern over the option of more experienced right-back Matteo Darmian.

The Dutch youngster should be given a chance under Mourinho with his more experienced players slacking behind.

CB: PHIL JONES

With Bailly injured it has opened the door to the former Blackburn defender Phil Jones – many United fans have questioned this decision from Mourinho.

But the Portuguese manager seems to favour the English centre-back.

CB: CHRIS SMALLING

With leadership qualities, he and Jones could form a brilliant partnership and prevent the strength from Feyenoord’s Elia and Kuyt.

The England International has been quite the stone wall since his arrival at Old Trafford and Mourinho has continued that.

LB: MARCOS ROJO

The Argentine looks set for the exit at United but he’s featured in the Europa League at left-back and we feel Mourinho won’t change that and will keep him there.

Perhaps a good performance here could give him a life line under Mourinho – after all they share the same agent!

CDM: MAROUANE FELLAINI

You may not like the guy but he has some talent when he puts his mind on the game and not being aggressive.

A lot of our United punters here at the tavern and landlord a like, felt his time at United would come to an end under Mourinho, but it’s been quite the opposite in fact.

CDM: PAUL POGBA

The record signing has been rather underwhelming when you considering the £89-million they paid for him.

But he has been a lot better in recent weeks and has shown glimpses of what he’s capable of- a solid performance here and he could see a turn around this season.

CAM: JUAN MATA

Many felt that Mata wouldn’t be a Manchester United player after Mourinho arrived, having infamously sold him during his time at Chelsea.

But in fact he seems to be saving the ‘special one’ Jose Mourinho’s job at the moment.

Many including pundit Jamie Carragher feel he is one of the most underrated players in the Premier League today and we here at the Tavern agree with that!

He’s a little genius at times for United.

RW: MARCUS RASHFORD

The 19-year-old has been in dreamland since he made his mark in this competition last season, when injuries forced Van Gaal to put the unknown striker into the starting XI.

Rashford hasn’t looked back since and he is a must in the Feyenoord game if United want to gain all 3 points!

This kid is special that’s for sure!

LW: ANTHONY MARTIAL

The French attacking player was brought back against Arsenal and looks hungry to get going again, despite rumours of a potential exit from the club.

The young winger can provide the pace along side Rashford that perhaps Zlatan through the middle lacks – the trio will cause all kind of issues for Feyenoord as they look to get back in with a chance in the Europa League.

ST: ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC

After making a great start to life on these shores, it’s hard to put a team together without the superstar Swede in the side.

With a point to prove after missing the Arsenal game through suspension, having picked up 5 yellow cards- he will be looking for redemption against Feyenoord.

The 11 time Swedish player of the year could be a vital cog in the side if they want to beat the high-flying Dutch outfit.
