Manchester United fans here in the Tavern breathed a huge sigh of relief after Sunday’s huge result against Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford.

United came away from proceedings with a 1-0 win, thanks to a Henrikh Mkhitaryan strike, only for the Armenian international to be stretchered off in the second half after just breaking into the first team after his summer move.

It was one bad point in an otherwise successful afternoon for Jose Mourinho and the Red Devils but with a busy schedule ahead, attention will quickly turn to Wednesday evening and United’s game against Crystal Palace.

Our United-man landlord is predicting a tough game against the up-and-down Eagles, who have been struggling to find consistent form over the past few weeks.

But with the heckles piping down from other areas of the pub after the win, United supporters here in the pub are starting to feel a little bit confident once again.

And we think we’ve got just the line-up that could see them get another win against Alan Pardew’s side.

So with that in mind, here’s our Man Utd XI that we think will annihilate Crystal Palace on Wednesday…..

GK: David De Gea

David De Gea is United’s number one goalkeeper and that isn’t about to change anytime soon.

He’s the best keeper they’ve had at Old Trafford in years.

RB: Antonio Valencia

Veteran United man Antonio Valencia has enjoyed quite the resurgence playing at full-back under Jose Mourinho this season and there seems little point in dropping him, especially after the excellent result against Spurs.

He’s lightning quick, gets forward and has been defensively good this season.

CB: Phil Jones

Funnily enough, Phil Jones has come back into the United first-team and he’s really making an impact at the heart-of-the-defence.

He’s been excellent in the past couple of weeks and against Spurs, we saw why United brought him to the club all those years ago. He and Marcos Rojo looked solid as a rock and for United, it’s excellent news moving forward.

CB: Marcos Rojo

Another man who has forced his way back into the first-team fold is Marcos Rojo, who had an excellent game against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Argentine has struggled to impress the United faithful during his stay at Old Trafford but they will have been buoyed by a strong performance in the win on Sunday.

LB: Matteo Darmian

Yet again, another slightly forgotten Old Trafford man, Matteo Darmian is another one in this backline who is now back in the first-team after a spell away.

The Italian has had to bide his time to get minutes under Jose Mourinho but it looks like he’s been putting in the hours on the training pitch.

United fans here in the Tavern are sipping their beers a little quietly tonight, especially after the good performances from this trio on Sunday.

CM: Paul Pogba

The heat has died down around Paul Pogba in recent weeks and it’s because he’s starting to show his quality on the pitch.

He was unlucky not to score in the game against Spurs, and United fans here in the pub are delighted to see the Frenchman showing some form that warranted them spending so much money on him in the first place.

CM: Ander Herrera

Ander Herrera is the man that pulls the strings in the heart of the United midfield and he’s been absolutely fantastic this season.

We didn’t see the best of him under Louis Van Gaal but under Mourinho, the Spaniard looks a completely different player.

He’s been capped at international level for the first time thanks to his good form and if he continues, he could be part of a really important season for the Red Devils.

CM: Michael Carrick

There were plenty of United fans that weren’t too happy to see Marouane Fellaini warming up on the side of the pitch in the second half, and we think the Belgian is best off on the bench this time out too.

Michael Carrick is an experience hand in the United midfield and his ability to move the ball on quickly is massive.

RW: Marcus Rashford

With Mkhitaryan now out for the next couple of weeks at least, Marcus Rashford could go back into the United first-team, especially having come on as a substitute in the game against Spurs.

He’s a man that has had to be patient on the sidelines this season and he’ll be keen for the chance to impress, especially with the Armenian on the sidelines.

ST: Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Despite not getting on the scoresheet against Spurs, Zlatan Ibrahimovic did an excellent job holding the ball up for United upfront.

He’s an experienced professional who knows the game like the back of his hand and if there’s one man in this outfit who can bring some success to proceedings, it’s the Swede.

LW: Anthony Martial

He might not be having the most prolific season of his career, but there is no doubting the pace and work Anthony Martial brings to this Manchester United side.

There’s plenty of competition for places in Jose Mourinho’s outfit and a few goals certainly wouldn’t go amiss from the Frenchman.
