The Spurs fans are in the Transfer Tavern tonight drinking in celebration over their 2-0 away win at Newcastle to kick-off the season, but their next opponent is a bit tougher.
Tottenham got their 2017/18 Premier League campaign off to a great start with a 2-0 win away from home against newly promoted Newcastle.
After Jonjo Shelvey’s red card, Tottenham took the initiative and did what was expected of them by picking up all three points.
Their next encounter is at their temporary home Wembley against the current holders of the Premier League, Chelsea.
Whilst that is always going to be a tough encounter, Chelsea’s start to the season saw them lose 3-2 at home to Sean Dyche’s Burnley side after having both Gary Cahill and Cesc Fabregas given their marching orders.
Mauricio Pochettino and Tottenham’s league title push would be given a huge boost should they manage to knock off Chelsea on Sunday so they will have to put their best foot forward.
On that note, here is the starting eleven that Pochettino should field to cause further humiliation to Chelsea.
Hugo Lloris
The captain of both Spurs and the French national side, Hugo Lloris is up there with the best keepers in the world.
He’s not getting any younger but his talent stills shines through and with Michel Vorm as his understudy, this is a pretty obvious pick for Mauricio Pochettino.
Kyle Walker-Peters
The man with no relation to Kyle Walker, Kyle Walker-Peters put in a solid display in his debut for Spurs against Newcastle and was even named the man of the match.
He’s got big shoes to fill and Chelsea will provide a much tougher test than Newcastle did with the likes of Hazard and Willian running down the flanks but right now the youngster is Pochettino’s best bet.
Toby Alderweireld
Tottenham need to stop messing around and hand this man a blank cheque and let him pick his own salary.
Easily one of the best centre-backs in the world today, Toby Alderweireld could be lining up for the likes of Real Madrid with his talents.
A key player for Spurs and if he plays well, they always have a chance of a result against their rivals.
Jan Vertonghen
Tottenham’s other talented Belgian centre-back Jan Vertonghen is another easy pick for Pochettino.
Perhaps not as good as Alderweireld but still an irreplaceable member of the Spurs squad and one of the best defenders in the league to boot.
His partnership with his fellow international makes it difficult for any attackers to get through.
Ben Davies
Ben Davies finally looks like he is going to get some consistent first team football at Spurs.

Eric Dier
At one point a few weeks ago it looked like Tottenham were about to lose one of their prized assets Eric Dier after interest from Manchester United got the rumour mill churning.
He has stayed however and put in a good shift against Newcastle.
There is certainly more to come from his this season as he looks to help Spurs finally win the big one.
Mousa Dembele
Ask a lot of Premier League players who their toughest opponent has been and it would surprise you the number who would say Mousa Dembele.
He’s not exactly a massive guy but he uses his body weight well to make it virtually impossible for the opposition to dispossess him.
He could play a key role in the derby against Chelsea.
Heung-Min Son
He didn’t start against Newcastle but when he came on he was electric.
Had Harry Kane not uncharacteristically hit the post from a one on one then Son would have had an assist to his name after only a short amount of time on the pitch.
A very underrated player within Tottenham’s ranks and one who deserves a start against Chelsea.
Christian Eriksen
It is easy to forget that Christian Eriksen is still a young player.
He plays with such poise and maturity that you wouldn’t be surprised if he was a veteran of the Spurs squad.
He plays like on though and his abilities with set-pieces make him a constant threat and one that could be utilised well against Chelsea.
Dele Alli
What more can be said about Dele Alli?
One of the best young talents England has produced in the last 20 years and a player who really could hit the highest heights of world football.
For now, he is comfortable and happy at Spurs and he will definitely want to add to his one goal already this season.
Harry Kane
Of course the second our landlord puts Harry Kane in his fantasy team, he doesn’t score.
Still, a massive threat going forward and easily the best striker in the league.
Kane will be determined to get his tally up and running for the season to help secure that golden boot again.
