After losing to Feyenoord in the Europa League, the Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are pondering just what impact Jose Mourinho has had on the club.
For the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ though, the priority will be this weekend’s game at Vicarage Road as the Red Devils square up against Watford.
Defeat in the Manchester derby last weekend strengthens the importance of this game, as United will want to get their early season momentum back.
Watford will be full of confidence, too, though.
The Hornets won 4-2 at the London Stadium against West Ham despite being 2-0 down.
The Manchester Derby definitely highlighted weaknesses in the current United squad but they would still expect to have enough to defeat Watford on Sunday afternoon.
We here at the Tavern think that with this team, they are guaranteed the three points.
With that in mind, here’s the Man United XI to SMASH Watford.
David De Gea
The most guaranteed name on the team sheet. No other United keepers get close to De Gea. The Spaniard is one of the best keepers in the world right now.
Antonio Valencia
There are better right backs in the world but not many in the United squad. Valencia has been consistent and has something to offer going forward, too.
He’s got pace and strength in abundance so he should be the right back on Sunday.
Chris Smalling
If Eric Bailly continues the form he started with this season then we see no reason for him to be dropped in the Premier League.
The punters here in the Tavern think that ‘Mike’ should get a run out, too. If he gets a chance on Thursday and impresses we think he should keep his spot.
Eric Bailly
The Ivorian has been a revelation since joining United. He’s won Man of the Matche awards in most of the games he’s taken part in and is fast, strong and loves to tackle.
Blind’s mistakes in the Manchester Derby should see him dropped for this one.
Luke Shaw
There are a few good young left-backs at United but Shaw is still head and shoulders above them.
Hopefully, with more game time he will just keep improving and become one of the best English left backs.
Marouane Fellaini
The 6 ft 4 central midfielder has started the 16/17 season well.
Jose has shown a lot of faith in him despite criticism last campaign and he’ll hope to continue the good form, here.
Ander Herrera
The Spaniard came on against Manchester City in the derby defeat and looked very bright.
He brought something to different to the United team and we think he deserves a chance to impress against the Hornets alongside Fellaini.
Marcus Rashford
Like Herrera, Rashford also came on against City and changed the game.
The teenager is in fine form and seems to enjoy every moment on the pitch and is definitely merits a starting berth here.
Paul Pogba
Many of the punters here at the Tavern think that Pogba should play further up the field where he can have his influence on proceedings.
Watford concede quite a few goals so it would seem a worthwhile experiment in a game like this.
Wayne Rooney
Putting Pogba further up the pitch might push Rooney out wide but even there he can still have an influence.
He hasn’t been fantastic so far but people still expect a lot from the Red Devils and England captain.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic
The Swedish striker has had a great start to the season and seems unstoppable.
He loves to score goals, and is revelling playing under Mourinho once again.
