We here in the Transfer Tavern have been very excited by the start that Arsenal have made this season, particularly the Gunners propping up the bar.

They look good both domestically and so far in Europe, and with a draw against an unbeaten Tottenham just before the international break, you could forgive the fans for being excited.

Despite being here before…

The Gunners are set to take on Mourinho’s Manchester United this weekend – who have looked far from convincing so far this season under Jose Mourinho.

With the Arsenal squad looking very much in tune at the moment, it’s hard to look past the Gunners in this illustrious fixture.

United against Arsenal has been quite the rivalry in years gone by in the Premier League, with both sides often battling it out for the title.

Considering Wenger and Mourinho’s history with each other, it could be quite an exciting game for the neutral fan.

Manchester United had not been in the best run of form ahead of the international break, despite a victory last time out, we fear with Arsenal next, things are going to only get worse for United.

With that, here is the Arsenal XI our landlord here in the Transfer Tavern feels can demolish Man Utd this weekend….

GK: PETR CECH

Cech is one of the main reasons that Arsenal find themselves joint top in the Premier League, making a number of key saves.

The veteran goalkeeper is still arguably the best goalkeeper in the Premier League, alongside his opposite number, David De Gea – it looks to be a battle of the  keepers for sure!

RB: HECTOR BELLERIN

The Spanish right-back had picked up a knock whilst with the Spain under-21 squad but there’s a hope he will be fit for Arsenal’s trip to Old Trafford this weekend.

The 21-year-old full-back would be a big loss if it were to be that he’s not fit to play – but he has to be in the side if he’s fit.

CB: LAURENT KOSCIELNY

The captain of the side has been a rock so far at the back for Arsenal and will be vital in the battle against the likes of Pogba and Rooney for the Gunners, as they to try and defeat their long time nemesis’.

United who are without the suspended Zlatan Ibrahimovic, still have a very solid front line and it could be a tough old game for the 31-year-old defender but if he continues his vein of form he’all have no worries.

CB: SHKODRAN MUSTAFI

The 24-year-old has been the perfect signing for Arsenal so far this season, he looks like what’s been missing for a fair few years at the Gunners – a solid defender.

Arsenal have always found the games against United hard and with many defensive woes over the past few meetings it boads well for Arsenal that they have the German international; who has forged a great partnership with Koscielny.

LB: NACHO MONREAL

The Spanish left-back had been injured prior to the North London derby with Tottenham last time out-which saw the Gunners heavily feature Kieran Gibbs, who himself is now inured.

But with the preferred first choice in Nacho Monreal, Arsenal should have no issues down the left of defence.

CDM: AARON RAMSEY

The Welsh midfielder made his come back before the international break and featured at the weekend for Wale.

With Francis Coquelin looking less than impressive against Spurs, having Ramsey could be a real sting in the tail for United.

The midfielder has been consistent in recent years despite his critics, he could make a real difference in the middle of the park and also pushing forward at times at Old Trafford.

CDM: GRANIT XHAKA

The Swiss international returns from his suspension and featured for his country during the international break- he has a lack of discipline at times, but there’s no doubting his ability.

Xhaka would have relished the opportunity to play in the classic United vs Arsenal fixtures! No doubt and this weekend could be another classic in the making.

LW: ALEXIS SANCHEZ

Gunners fans must have been thinking the worst when they had heard Sanchez picked up a knock whilst with Chile.

But it appears he’s doing okay and should be fit to face United and following Olivier Giroud’s performances for Arsenal and France,  we feel he could return to the side in a striker’s role, despite Sanchez performing really well up top.

The former Barcelona man has been a quality striker for the Gunners so far this season, scoring in a number of games and we feel he could be the difference for Arsenal on the wing at Old Trafford.

CAM: MESUT OZIL

The German is utterly crucial to the Gunners and their bid for a title!

He loves a big game and this game will be no different.

Will be essential if Arsenal are to get the win at Old Trafford.

RW: THEO WALCOTT

The England international has really come good so far this season.

The 27-year-old had been rather inconsistent and angered many fans throughout his time with the North Londoners.

However, now he is coming good and about time too.

The speedy winger could be a big threat to the very make shift United defence.

ST: OLIVIER GIROUD

The French international was impressive for his national side and we witnessed in the Sunderland game when he came on off the bench to score a brace.

We feel that Giroud should have his chance on the pitch from the off now, able to terrorise United’ backline with his arial threat.

On his day, Giroud can be deadly to any defence in the Premier League.
