Jurgen Klopp is continuing his revolution at Liverpool this summer, and his newly built side now faces its biggest test yet in a game against Chelsea in the US on Tuesday.
Klopp’s Liverpool have looked impressive so far this summer, and they will no doubt cause a problem to Antonio Conte’s Chelsea.
Liverpool fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are optimistic about the game however, with a few of Klopp’s new signings having really impressed in recent weeks.
In fact, our Landlord thinks that Liverpool might just have enough to put Chelsea away, if they pick the right side.
With that, we think that this 4-2-3-1 Liverpool team will SMASH Chelsea in their pre-season friendly on Tuesday….
GK: Loris Karius
Loris Karius has made an excellent start to life at Liverpool, and Liverpool fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern really think he deserves to be number one next year.
The only way he can prove his worth is by putting in performances during pre-season; and you wouldn’t bet against him doing just that against Chelsea on Tuesday.
LB: Alberto Moreno
Alberto Moreno has a lot to prove; and he needs to start doing so very quickly.
It is no secret that Klopp is searching for a new left back; so Moreno is in a race against time to prove that he is the man for the job.
Chelsea have a number of threatening forwards likely to turn out on Tuesday; so he will need to be at his best to stop them.
CB: Joel Matip
Joel Matip is a towering defender, and will no doubt cause a number of problems to the Chelsea attack as they look to break through him.
He has looked impressive so far; it really looks like Liverpool have solved their issues in the middle of the defence.
CB: Dejan Lovren
Dejan Lovren has had an inconsistent start to his Liverpool career, although he did start to look back to his best towards the end of last season.
Matip will no doubt take up one of the central defensive spots next season, and it is up to Lovren to prove that he is worthy of the other.
On his day he is a real talent in defence; the issue is he is not on his day very often. Maybe his rise back to form will begin on Tuesday?
RB: Nathaniel Clyne
Nathaniel Clyne has been consistent, if not spectacular, during his time with Liverpool, and he has seemingly made the right full back spot his own.
You know what you get with Clyne, and he will likely pose quite a problem to the Chelsea wingers trying to get past him.
CM: Emre Can
Emre Can has enjoyed quite a resurgence under Jurgen Klopp, with the German manager seemingly very keen to give Can as many opportunities as possible.
The German has duly repaid; with Can becoming a standout part of the Liverpool team last year, looking impressive every week.
Expect that to continue going forward.
CM: Marko Grujic
Marko Grujic has drawn comparisons with the likes of Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic en route to Liverpool, and in his opening few games it is easy to see why.
He has scored two great goals and his over all play has been mesmerising.
Liverpool fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern have been singing his praises all week; and he is going to be a star next year.
RAM: Adam Lallana
Fresh off the back of a disappointing Euro 2016 England campaign, Adam Lallana will no doubt be looking to prove himself under Klopp next season.
He was probably one of England’s best players at the tournament, and he will be eager to become a regular starter under Klopp next season.
Reliable and consistent; Lallana will play.
CAM: Philippe Coutinho
Like Lallana, Coutinho is reliable; and will no doubt continue to be a star under Klopp next summer.
Keeping hold of him is one of Klopp’s best pieces of business this summer, and he will no doubt impress against Chelsea.
LAM: Sadio Mane
Liverpool’s landmark signing this summer, Sadio Mane is just finding his feet at his new club.
Klopp will no doubt be eager for his new man to get a quick start to life at Liverpool, and what better way to start than at Chelsea on Tuesday.
His electric pace will no doubt cause The Blues some problems, and you should look out for him to form quite the partnership with his number 9.
ST: Daniel Sturridge
Daniel Sturridge’s Liverpool career looked over last year, with Klopp disappointed with how the striker was managing his injury problems.
Things seem to have turned around now however; with Sturridge seemingly past the worst of his issues and Klopp open to giving him a chance up front.
If he can remain fit he will be a star in the Premier League next year; and a decent pre-season is the best way to start his quest for long-term fitness.
