Many glasses were raised to Paul Clement by various sets of fans in the Transfer Tavern following the Swans’ remarkable 3-2 win at Anfield against title contenders, Liverpool.

This season has been a big struggle for the South Wales side which as seen both Francesco Guidolin and Bob Bradley lose their jobs as Swansea’s manager with Paul Clement now picking up the pieces at the Liberty Stadium.

The Swans will now be looking to build under Clement and the win at Liverpool are the building blocks in this season’s survival bid, with the business end of the campaign fast approaching.

The win at Anfield lifted the Jack Army out of the relegation zone but our Landlord predicts a rollercoaster end to the season and their should be no resting our their laurels, baring in mind it is only January.

With that said, here is the XI that Clement should use to gain revenge on a Southampton side that beat them 1-0 earlier in the season…

GK: Lukasz Fabianski

The Polish stopper has not missed a game this season and remains a consistent performer for the side from South Wales.

RB: Kyle Naughton

Naughton bounced back well against Liverpool following his own goal against Arsenal the previous week and will look to make the right back position his own following competition from Angel Rangel.

CB: Alfie Mawson

The 23-year-old centre back has endeared himself to our resident Swansea fans who have been impressed by his commitment to the club this season.

CB: Federico Fernandez

The Argentinian brings a lot of experience to the Swans back line and Clement will be looking to him for the much-desired leadership among the Swans’ backline.

LB: Martin Olsson

The January signing from Norwich almost capped his debut with a goal against Liverpool and will look to be proving himself to the Swansea faithful in the coming weeks.

CM: Leroy Fer

The Dutchman should recover from the knock he sustained against Liverpool to feature in this fixture.

CM: Jack Cork

Though captain Leon Britton is set to be fit for the game against the Saints, our Landlord expects Cork to keep the captain’s armband and to see Britton emerge from the subs bench following his lay off.

CM: Tom Carroll

Undoubtedly one of the bright sparks against Liverpool, Carroll’s strong debut had Swansea fans in the Transfer Tavern of their feet whenever he got the ball.

RM: Wayne Routledge

Though reportedly a target for Birmingham, our Landlord predicts Clement will be looking to hold on to Routledge this transfer window, especially with Jefferson Montero and Ki Sung-Yeung only just returning to full training.

ST: Fernando Llorente

Vital to Swansea’s survival hopes, Swans fans in the Transfer Tavern were thrilled to hear Llorente say he is happy at the club last week.

LM: Gylfi Sigurdsson

Though not his most effective position, Paul Clement will be hoping Sigurdsson can reproduce some more magic in order to keep the club afloat this season.
