4-3-3: The potential starting Crystal Palace XI to face Huddersfield on the opening day of the season

Share

Crystal Palace supporters in the Transfer Tavern are expecting their team to impress having just appointed Frank De Boer as manager.

The mood surrounding Crystal Palace is overwhelmingly positive, having named the first foreign manager in their history.

De Boer has managed the likes of Ajax and Inter Milan; he even represented Barcelona as a player who displays the impressive extent of his football knowledge and understanding.

Steve Parish at the announcement of De Boer as manager stated that he wanted the new boss to ensure supporters have a more comfortable season, having endured relegation fights for the past few seasons.

Throughout his managerial career, De Boer has favoured the 4-3-3 formation; therefore our landlord has decided to see how his team may look on the opening day of the new season that kicks off in a little under a month….

Wayne Hennessey

Given Palace’s toxic situation with Mandanda, it appears that Hennessey will resume duties as Palace’s number 1 shot stopper. The experienced Welshman is well accustomed to the challenges of the PL and can produce heroic individual performances as demonstrated against Chelsea last season.

Patrick Van Aanholt

The former Sunderland defender – recruited by ‘Big Sam’ – has performed well so far. While the defensive aspect of his game does require improvement, he’s a menacing player when advancing and he’s more than capable of finding the back of the net.

James Tomkins

The Eagles’ centre-half is acknowledged for his composed nature and efficiency while completing his defensive duties. He’s strong, imposing and incredibly competitive when fighting for the ball. An exceedingly competent defender.

Joel Veltman

One of Palace’s reported Summer targets, the Ajax defender is regarded for his ball-playing abilities and versatility.  He was instrumental in Ajax’s Europa League campaign.

Joel Ward

The right-back featured in every single Premier League game for Palace last season, and he’s highly regarded among the Palace hierarchy for his terrific defensive contribution.

Luka Milivojevic

Without hesitation, one of the best signings of the January window. The Palace midfielder has provided the Eagles with stable protection at the heart of their midfield.

Yohan Cabaye

The Frenchman operates as Palace’s orchestrator, the team’s visionary. His passing range is unparalleled in the team, and he’s able to offer a shooting option from distance.

Jason Puncheon

Despite being 31, the Englishman has testified his status a vital component of Palace’s midfield. The former Southampton man provides a significant threat from set-pieces, in particular with his marvellous crossing ability.

Wilfred Zaha

Unequivocally, Palace’s best player. The Ivorian was outstanding last season having scored nine goals and providing seven assists. His trickery, clever footwork and seamless movement provide numerous problems for opposing defenders.

Christian Benteke

The goal scorer that Palace so frantically craved. Benteke scored 15 goals last season and was an essential figure in the club’s fight for survival. He’s lethal in the penalty area, especially when attacking crosses.

Andros Townsend

While many Palace supporters were hoping for a better goal return from their creative winger, there’s no doubting that the 25-year-old’s Palace career has begun positively. His dribbling abilities and long shots are mightily impressive, although his ball retention does require improvement.
