When Jurgen Klopp joined Liverpool at the tail end of 2015, he inherited a squad that was not his own.
Over the course of the season he managed to build this team around his style of play, but a number of players looked out of place in his system.
This summer will be Klopp’s first real opportunity to work on his playing squad, and he will for the first time be able to bring in a number of players of his own choosing.
As a result of this, Liverpool fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are expecting a number of transfers this summer that will go on to shape the Liverpool first team going in to next season…..
Goalkeeper – Simon Mignolet

Whilst many Liverpool fans here in the Tavern would like to see the back of Mignolet, the reality is that he will likely remain as Liverpool’s first choice keeper next season.
There have been rumours here in the Transfer Tavern surrounding the club’s purported interest in Timo Horn, but that is yet to come to anything.
Mignolet is prone to mistakes, but at the end of the day he is a solid keeper, and he will no doubt look to prove the doubters wrong going in to next season.
Defence – Nathaniel Clyne, Mamadou Sakho, Joel Matip, Jonas Hector

Part of the Simon Mignolet problem last year could be attributed to his side’s poor defensive performences; and so Klopp will definitely look to bring in some defensive reinforcements this summer.
Nathaniel Clyne will certainly retain his place after looking strong and commanding on the right hand side of the Liverpool defence last season.
Similarly, Mamadou Sakho performed well last year, and after being cleared of doping will look to kick on next season.
Our first change comes in the form of Joel Matip, who became Liverpool’s first signing of the transfer window several weeks ago. The towering central defender will look to replace Skrtel in the Liverpool side, who looks set to depart this summer.
A lot of the defensive problems at Liverpool last season were attributed to the left hand side, with punters in the Tavern blaming Alberto Moreno for his inconsistency.
Klopp will almost certainly look to improve this position, and is rumored to be interested in German defender Jonas Hector, likely available for around £6 million this summer.
A consistent defensive left back, he might be just what Liverpool need to resolidify their back line this summer.
Midfield, Emre Can, Henderson, Coutinho

Familiarity returns in the Liverpool midfield, with Emre Can likely to anchor a midfield trio.
Can came into his own last season, gaining the trust of Klopp and becoming a near constant in the side.
Expect club captain Jordan Henderson to regain his place in the side after suffering with injuries towards the tail end of the year. The consistent midfielder is the leader of the side, and on his day is one of England’s best central midfielders.
Sitting slightly further forward will be the ever reliable Coutinho, who really progressed under Klopp last year. Playing higher up the field will rid the Brazilian of his defensive duties, and will allow him to put all his energy into breaking down opposition defences.
Klopp will build his team around this powerful, technically gifted midfield; with the majority of the forward movement going through star man Coutinho.
Attackers – Sadio Mane, Daniel Sturridge, Roberto Firmino

New signing Sadio Mane will go straight into that Liverpool team, offering electric pace and technique going forward.
Having already proved himself in the Premier League with Southampton, we expect him to kick on immediately and really make a name for himself with Liverpool.
We expect Roberto Firminho to retain his place in this Liverpool side, this time finding a role on the right hand side of an attacking trio. His partnership with Brazilian Coutinho will continue to flourish as they look to combine and break down opposition defences.
The electric pace produced by both Mane and Firminho will terrify defenders, especially when compared to the prolific nature of a fit-again Daniel Sturridge.
When Sturridge is fit, he is guaranteed to get you goals; and it is essential that the club try their best to retain his fitness.
The pace and technical ability of this attacking trio will be unstoppable.
