Liverpool have been as inconsistent as ever this season, a theme constantly undermining Jurgen Klopp’s best efforts to get the Reds battling the top order of the Premier League.
Scintillating against Arsenal, awful against Burnley, and both away at Tottenham, the Kop titans are yet to look entirely convincing this term.
Still, there’s little doubt that Klopp boasts a hugely exciting team that is entirely capable of ripping even the best in the league to shreds.
Up next is the visit of Premier League champions Leicester City as the season enters it’s post-Deadline Day stage.
The Foxes didn’t lose many last term, though their visit to Anfield proved a blot on their near perfect copybook.
While both teams have developed since that cold Merseyside night in December, it represents another difficult hurdle for Klopp to try and overcome.
If the side that we have seen rip through the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City during Klopp’s tenure show up, it could be another miserable Mersey trip for the champions.
That being said, here’s the Liverpool 4-3-3 that will beat Leicester City on Saturday evening.
GK: Simon Mignolet
While Loris Karius is closing in on a return, Simon Mignolet can expect to carry on in goal.
RB: Nathaniel Clyne
Though Kyle Walker seems to have eclipsed Nathaniel Clyne at international level, the Reds ace remains one of the best right-backs in the league.
His explosive style of play will be crucial to breaking through a hugely organised Leicester team.
CB: Joel Matip
If anyone is going to be able to deal with Jamie Vardy, Joel Matip at least on paper looks up to the challenge.
Elegant on the ball while boasting a ruthless streak, the Cameroonian is vital to the defence.
CB: Ragnar Klavan
Dejan Lovren hasn’t always convinced in central defence and Ragnar Klavan’s dogged defensive work will be key against a team of hard workers such as the English champions.
LB: James Milner
James Milner is so good at football, that he can actually do a better job not in his position than others can in there’s.
Granted, Alberto Moreno doesn’t exactly set the bar very high.
CDM: Jordan Henderson
So far this season, Jordan Henderson has completed more passes than any other Premier League player.
While the England international isn’t naturally a holding midfielder, his dynamism in the engine room will need to be up to speed with Danny Drinkwater.
CM: Georginio Wijnaldum
Has it all to prove after failing to impress in the opening few games of his Liverpool career since a £25m move from Newcastle United.
Clearly a talented player, the Dutchman will need to be at his best to release the frontline on the break.
CM: Adam Lallana
Hugely boosted by his goal for England, Adam Lallana looks to be finally adding an end product to his game.
Has come on leaps and bounds in recent months and can give the Reds something different to break down a stubborn Foxes backline.
RM: Sadio Mane
Eyebrows were raised when Klopp splashed well over £30m on Sadio Mane, though the Senegalese has looked devastating since his move.
The ideal player in the manager’s system, he’ll run the Foxes ragged.
ST: Roberto Firmino
With Daniel Sturridge’s situation at the club still murky, the striker mantle falls to Roberto Firmino in this system.
Though not a natural centre-forward, the 24-year-old can drop deep and drift wide, creating space in a truly fluid frontline.
LM: Philippe Coutinho
Liverpool’s new Suarez?
Little Phil has been magnificent this season and gives them another option.
While Firmino and Mane push forward and interchange, he can operate as a False 9 to either link up with Lallana or shoot from distance.
