Much has been made of Arsene Wenger’s lack of business in the transfer market, however for him to spend money on his deep squad, he must ensure the departure of some players taking up space.
Our Arsenal supporters here in the Transfer Tavern have grown tired of some players failing to deliver for the club on a regular basis. Unlike teams who have won the league recently, Arsenal cannot get the best out of players that are regularly finding themselves on the bench at the Emirates.
Wenger has failed the Gunners in the transfer market since the move to the Emirates Stadium, and should they wish to compete at the highest level once again; they must wave goodbye to some famous figures at the club.
With Wenger’s future uncertain, it may be difficult to plan ahead but here are four players our landlord thinks the club must say goodbye to come July.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
It’s difficult to believe that Oxlade-Chamberlain is still only 23 as he seems somewhat of a veteran compared to some Premier League players.
His Arsenal career has steadily stagnated due to injuries and a lack of form, and maybe a move away from the Emirates would be a shrewd move for the England international.
The former Saints winger was linked with a transfer away from Arsenal last summer, but maybe he needs to consider his options at the end of the season.
Santi Cazorla
Our Arsenal supporting landlord considers Cazorla a pivotal member of Wenger’s squad. Despite this, the Spanish midfielder is not getting any younger, and his lack of pace is evident in midfield.
Cazorla turns 32 next month and injuries are starting to creep up on the playmaker.
Surely Arsenal can aim higher than an ageing Cazorla?
Mathieu Debuchy
Mathieu Debuchy has been outcasted at Arsenal following a long-term injury last season. Hector Bellerin replaced the French international, and the Spaniard has not looked like relinquishing his first-team place for Debuchy anytime soon.
Debuchy joined Bordeaux on loan until the end of the season as Carl Jenkinson returned from a two-year loan spell at West Ham.
When Arsenal are preparing for next season, surely Debuchy won’t be one of the names considered by the Gunners hierarchy.
Danny Welbeck
Similar to Mathieu Debuchy, injuries have halted the progression of Danny Welbeck. The England forward has become a fan favourite at the Emirates, despite his history with Manchester United.
As Arsenal look to build on their success in previous seasons, the club will be keen to sign another striker this coming summer window.
Should that move occur, Welbeck would become fourth choice striker and offer very little in terms of contribution to Wenger’s squad due to a lack of regular football.
