With Brendan Rodgers now in charge at Celtic, you can expect him to ring the changes, as he looks to build a new side in his own image.
Rodgers is known for his utilisation of fast paced football, often utilising quick passing and movement.
We don’t think young players will be the only outgoing this summer however, with a number of players expected to see the exit door this summer.
Our resident Celtic fans here inside the Football Transfer Tavern are so excited about the new season under Rodgers, and have identified a handful of players that need to depart the club this summer for them to ultimately move forward as a club.
With that, here are FOUR players that Rodgers must sell to move the club forward this summer…..

Efe Ambrose
The mistakes of Efe Ambrose have been widely publicised over the last few years, and with good reason.
A number of his shocking mistakes have cost Celtic, and it is unlikely that he will ever be taken as a serious contender whilst at the club.
When you are competing on a European level, you can’t afford to be inconsistent, which Ambrose certainly is. One mistake can often cost clubs a chance at European progression.
If Rodgers is looking to rebuild and form a new reputation for this Celtic side, he must sell Ambrose.
Stefan Johansen
Seeing Johansen go would be disappointing, given that he has largely performed excellently whilst at Celtic, culminating in his winning of the Scottish PFA player of the year award last year.
However, if the Daily Mail are to be believed, he has stalled on a new contract, and is expecting to leave when it expires next summer.
Coming off of the back of a PFA trophy win just a year ago, Johansen’s market value will likely never be higher, and so it would be a disaster if he were left to leave on a free next summer.
Now is the time to sell the Norweigan, freeing up extra funds for Rodgers to pump back into the club.
Emilio Izaguirre
Another player that should leave this summer is Emilio Izaguirre.
Despite notiching up 250 appearences for the Celtic, he lost his place in the side last season to young Kieran Tierney, and so his quality is wasted on the sidelines.
Clearly the defender is happy to move on, and given his talent he could certainly demand a relatively high transfer fee.
James Forrest
Another play that is seemingly happy to leave the club this summer is James Forrest.
The Daily Record reports that whilst Celtic offered the winger a new deal earlier this year, he rejected it, refusing to play a bit part role in the side.
Considering the fact that he wants to leave the club and is refusing to sign a new deal, added to the fact that his contract runs out at the end of this calendar year; it is now or never for Celtic to make any sort of money from the player.
