After 6 losses in 7 games, Alan Pardew is under pressure to strengthen the team in January to ensure Crystal Palace remain in the Premier League.  

Eagles fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for the manager to add a striker to the squad after losing Conor Wickham, Loic Remy and Jonathan Benteke to injury, but who?

The Premier League is tough at the best of times, but with just two recognised strikers available, Pardew must bolster the front line to ensure Crystal Palace do not become embroiled in a relegation scrap.

The Eagles are just 3 points off the bottom 3 teams and Steve Parish, the Palace Chairman, MUST dig deep in January to secure the services of a forward to ease the pressure on Christian Benteke.

The big Belgian has scored 7 goals in the Premier League this season and is their main target man.

Their record signing, Benteke is a fantastic finisher and he is great in the air, but the punters in the Transfer Tavern are worried that Pardew’s over-reliance on his aerial ability means that they struggle to find a plan B in games.

Palace have been unlucky with their forwards this season; Loic Remy joined on a season-long loan from Chelsea in September and is yet to make a first-team appearance.

Meanwhile, Connor Wickham has shown glimpses of greatness, chipping in with 3 goals but a recent knee injury has halted his progress.

Pardew needs a striker that can add pace and clinical finishing to his attack.  Benteke needs support or he’ll burn out and Palace need a robust forward that can offer a genuine plan B.

Spanish U21 international and former Barcelona graduate could make the grade in the Premier League.

Ramirez currently plays for Malaga in La Liga and has scored 6 goals in 14 appearances.

He’s a free-kick specialist, quick and can play as a lone striker or ‘in the hole’ behind the target man.

ODION IGHALO

The out of favour Nigerian would add real power to the front line.

Ighalo scored 17 goals in 42 appearances in the Premier League last season and looked a constant threat with his pace and dribbling ability.

If the Watford striker crossed London to Palace he would make an immediate impact, despite his recent Hertfordshire heartache.

Future German star Werner could be a short-term fix and a long-term investment.

In June 2016, Werner became the largest transfer in RB Leipzig’s club history (at £12m) and has taken the Bundesliga by storm this season scoring 8 goals in just 13 appearances.

Wonderfully direct, the German would be quite the coup and boasts huge resale value to the Eagles.

NICOLAI JORGENSEN

The giant Danish international striker would be an instant hit.

Currently topping the Dutch scoring chart with 11 goals, Jorgensen is a proven hitman.

At 6ft 3″ he is strong at holding up the ball, an excellent finisher and would prove a real handful for Premier League defenders.
