The punters in the Football Transfer Tavern are all thankful that Rangers are now back in the big time in Scottish football, and are hoping that they are able to continue to do well now that they are there.

The club have made some very good signings and if they pay off, then the consensus at the Transfer Tavern bar is that they are going to be fine.

However, the club have had a lot of bad times and bad signings to go with them and here at the Tavern we can’t help but think about that too.

There is a lot of talk of the signings that never managed to make their mark on the club.

There has been a lot of arguing and debating but the landlord has been listening in, and come up with FOUR Rangers players who failed to make any sort of a mark on the club.

Sebastian Rozental

If any football fan needs a reminder that you can’t judge a player from his video montage, they need look no further than Sebastian Rozental.

The Chilean came over from his native club Universidad Catolica and after seeing some footage that had been released by Rangers, the club’s supporters were very excited.

However, they soon realised that the man they had signed wasn’t the real deal and Rozental was soon moved on.

Francis Jeffers

Francis Jeffers had an incredibly promising start to his career, as he even played for England and scored in the game that he played him.

However, his career seemed to be one big downward spiral and he joined Rangers on loan during that time.

McLeish had given the striker another chance to prove his quality after he had been pushed out by Charlton, however he only managed to feature 13 times and he couldn’t muster up a single goal in his time at Ibrox.

Rangers turned out to be just one of many clubs that Francis Jeffers failed to make an impact for.

Francisco Sandaza

It was just after Rangers had been relegated to the third division of Scottish football, so when they signed Francisco Sandaza from SPL side St. Johnstone, the Rangers supporters in the tavern at the time expected him to get plenty of goals and have a massive impact for the side, due to the fact that he had got 14 goals in the SPL the season before.

However he went on to make 19 appearances, bagging just two goals.

It was later said that he only went to Rangers for the money and that showed in his disinterested performances.

Lionel Letizi

An error prone goalkeeper won’t normally get many chances, but Lionel Letizi was given quite a few and he wasted all of them.

Somehow the manager at the time,Paul Le Guen preferred him to Allan McGregor.

A mixture of injuries, Le Guen’s departure and Walter Smith seeing sense, meant that Lionel Letizi only played eight times for Rangers after failing to make much of a positive impression on anyone at Rangers.
