Euro 2016 is a stage where the world’s greatest talents can showcase their skills to the world, and it’s also a stage where young up and comers can earn themselves that big money move to the club of their dreams.

Nowadays, an 18-year-old who shows a lot of promise can cost you as much as £30-£40 million, about as much as the legendary Zinedine Zidane cost Real Madrid 15 years ago, which can make it difficult for smaller clubs like Bournemouth to pick up these young players full of promise and use them for a few years until the likes of Man United or Barcelona come calling.

Every now and then however a player will sign for a ‘small’ club like the Cherries, a player that may have gone under everyone other club’s radar, like Payet or N’Golo Kante, and these players can revolutionise a club’s season.

Having delved into the depths of the youth of Euro 2016, here are FIVE Euro 2016 wonderkids who should be on Bournemouth’s radar so Cherries fans, you know the drill, the pints are on me so put your feet up and check out our list below.

Marcus Rashford

Man United have something very special with Rashford.

An 18-year-old who scored with his first shot in the Europa League, the Premier League and on his England debut.

He is a player who shows no fear and in a few years time, he could be one of European football’s most prolific strikers. The problem for United is that with so many other strikers in the squad at the moment, they’re at risk of leaving the youngster to ‘rot’ on the bench.

Whilst there is no doubt that pretty much any club in the league would take on the England international for a potential season long loan deal, the Red Devils know that the striker would be guaranteed first team football at Bournemouth with a potential partnership with Callum Wilson.

Marko Rog

I’ll say it now, watch out for the Croatian national team in a few years time because they have a lot of young and talented players bursting onto the scene.

The 20-year-old can play as a holding midfielder or higher up the field in an attacking playmaker sort of role and if absolutely necessary, he can play as a striker too. A versatile player who wouldn’t break the bank too much for Eddie Howe’s side given the fact he hasn’t been picked up by any big European club so far, still playing his football at Dinamo Zagreb.

Paddy McNair

Another potential loan move from Manchester, Paddy McNair managed a few performances for the United first team this season due to injuries sustained by their other centre backs and whilst the young Northern Ireland defender may not have set the world on fire with his performances, he certainly showed glimpses of quality.

With Mourinho coming in, it’s highly doubtful that young players like McNair will be given much of a chance in the first team so a loan move or even a transfer to the South Coast may be in the best interests of both clubs and the player himself.

The 21-year-old impressed for Northern Ireland at the Euros this summer and given the chance, could grow into a quality centre back for a team like Bournemouth. He’s tall, strong and still got plenty of years left in the tank making him an ideal buy should the opportunity arise for Howe.

Danny Ward

Whilst maybe not considered a ‘wonderkid’, Ward is a good keeper who just hasn’t been given his chance for either club or country.

If Bournemouth are to succeed and cement their position as a Premier League club then they need to buy a better quality keeper and given the chance with some consistent first team football, Danny Ward can be just that.

He made his debut for the national side in Wales’ win over Slovakia in the group stages of Euro 2016, putting in a solid performance for someone who had barely played 5 minutes of league football all season long. Given the chance, Howe should look into this young keeper, he’s got potential and he’ll be very, very cheap. It’s a win win.

Jordan Lukaku

No I’m not making him up, Everton’s Lukaku really does have a younger brother called Jordan. This 21-year-old left back plays his football in Belgium for K.V. Oostende and the Belgian national team, having featured in the sides 3-1 defeat to Wales in the quarter final.

Lukaku is the sort of player who can bring pace and power to any side, a player who likes to move down the wing and help out in the attacking play but who can also be caught out of position.

It’s not uncommon for a young player to be caught out of position, they need time to grow and a good coach to grow under and Eddie Howe is certainly up to the task.
