All the football fans in the Transfer Tavern can surely agree that Leicester City’s year has been a rollercoaster ride filled with mixed emotions from start to finish.
From nerve-wracking relegation scraps to the sweet euphoria of occupying the second top spot of England’s top-flight, Leicester fans have experienced a vast amount of the highs and the lows of football.
Our landlord here in the Transfer Tavern has been astounded with the form of Claudio Ranieri’s side, and thinks Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy have been nothing short of sensational.
With the Foxes managing their own great escape at the end of last season, and continuing to fly high in the Premier League in the current campaign, we take a look at their top FIVE greatest results of 2015…..

Liverpool 2-2 Leicester City (January 1st 2015)
Leicester’s first game of the New Year looked to be a tough one, a clash with Liverpool at Anfield.
After trailing 2-0 at half time through two Steven Gerrard penalties, Leicester looked down and out with all of the odds stacked against him.
However, a sensational half-time team talk and a spirited performance saw the Foxes score bring the game level, scoring two goals within the space of 100 seconds.
The never-say-die performance from the Leicester players would kick off the beginning of a what would eventually be a memorable year for the club.
Leicester City 3-0 Newcastle United (May 2nd 2015)
This was a massive game for the Foxes as a 3-0 victory over fellow relegation strugglers, Newcastle United, meant that Leicester finally moved out of the bottom 3 by a single point.
An early goal from Leonardo Ulloa within the first minute gave Leicester an early lead that would go on to secure a vital three points to make it 4 wins out of 5 games for the Foxes.
Leicester were seven points adrift at the start of April and after an impressive month, they finally climbed out of the dreaded relegation zone.
Leicester City 5-1 Queens Park Rangers (May 24th 2015)
Leicester ended their season in style by hammering already relegated Queens Park Rangers at home 5-1.
The home fans were already in a party mood before the kick off as they’d pulled off one of the greatest relegation escapes in the club’s history, but they were in for one final treat.
Lacklustre QPR proved an easy task for the Foxes as they took a 4-0 lead before QPR managed to scrape one back.
The home side eventually went on to net one more goal in the closing moments of the game to sum up QPR’s disappointing season.
Leicester’s on the other hand, certainly had it’s low moments but ended on an incredible high for the club and their fantastic supporters.
Leicester City 4-2 Sunderland (August 8th 2015)
Claudio Ranieri’s tenure as Leicester City manager began with a fantastic opening-day win over Sunderland.
It’s always considered vital to win the first game of the season, and Leicester wasted no time going to work on the North East side as Jamie Vardy scored the opener after 11 minutes.
The Foxes were comfortably 3-0 up at half-time, sending a clear message to the other teams in the Premier League that this season, they meant business.
Although Sunderland managed to pull one back, Marc Albrighton ensured that there would be no fairytale comeback for Sunderland, setting Leicester off on what would be a fantastic opening month to the season for them.
Leicester City 1-1 Manchester United (November 28th 2015)
Not only was this a fantastic result for Leicester against Premier League giants Manchester United, but it was also an incredible day for Foxes forward, Jamie Vardy.
Vardy’s opening goal on the 24th minute gave his side the lead in front of the home crowd and eclipsed Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s record, and becoming the first player to net in 11 consecutive games.
Schweinsteiger equalised for United on the stroke of half time but City managed to hold Louis van Gaal’s side to a 1-1 draw, sharing the spoils and preventing United from leap-frogging them in the table.
