5 Liverpool ‘transfer improvements’ on number two Brad Jones

Karl Darlow Liverpool fans enjoyed another fantastic weekend in the Football Transfer Tavern, with plenty of pints flowing to celebrate the Reds climb into second place in the Premier League table.

The Reds travelled to Southampton’s St. Mary’s ground – a notoriously difficult venue for them in recent times – on Saturday evening, knowing a sixth away win of the season would see them climb above Arsenal who had lost to Stoke City earlier in the day.

Brendan Rodgers men produced another impressive display, running out comfortable 3-0 winners in the end.

Liverpool fans are now daring to dream that their team could in fact nick the Premier League title at the end of the season.

The Reds sit just four points behind leaders Chelsea and – as Jose Mourinho continues to tell anyone who will listen – have no European competition to concern themselves with between now and the end of the season.

Brendan Rodgers continues to insist Champions League qualification remains the priority, which would allow the Liverpool boss to bring in ‘next level’ signings in the summer.

One area the Reds are reportedly looking to strengthen is the goalkeeping position, with reports over the past couple of weeks suggesting Rodgers is looking to bring in serious competition for Simon Mignolet.

The £11 million summer signing from Sunderland has seen a few errors creep into his game after a fantastic start to his Reds career, and has conceded 35 goals so far this season. Only Newcastle United in the top half have conceded more.

Whilst Mignolet is likely to keep his place as number one, Rodgers may look for an upgrade on current number two Brad Jones to provide the Belgian with some serious competition next season.
