Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers will head into the January transfer window hopeful of repeating the success he enjoyed a year ago.
The Northern Irishman made what is now looking to be two of the shrewdest purchases in Liverpool’s history last time out, bringing in Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho for a combined price of £20 million.
Rodgers has declared his intent to bring in top quality players who can ‘hit the ground running’ this January as Liverpool look to repeat their fine form in the second half of the season.
The Reds have surprised plenty during the first half of the campaign and find themselves well in the title race this season.
The calender year has been more impressive than many would have imagined for the Reds, who are in fact the team that has managed the most Premier League goals in 2013, whilst their collective points total is well up there with the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea and last season’s Champions Manchester United.
Rodgers knows some shrewd business, the likes of which he produced a year ago could really help Liverpool in their quest to finish in the top four – a target that is at present looking more likely to be achieved with every passing week.
