It’s been another dramatic week for Liverpool supporters, who have discovered the fate of their under-fire boss and seen their club confirm a new signing in the space of three days.
Brendan Rodgers is set to continue as Liverpool manager next season after a ‘positive’ meeting with the club’s American owners – a deicison that seems to have split the Anfield fanbase down the middle.
Meanwhile the club have also confirmed that James Milner will move to Merseyside on a free transfer when his contract at Manchester City expires on July 1.
The Reds are now understood to have turned their attentions to another player out of contract next month, in Burnley forward Danny Ings.
However, many Reds fans don’t believe the England Under-21 star has what it takes to play for Liverpool. With that in mind we have identified five forwards Brendan Rodgers should look to sign instead.

Gonzalo Higuain
The Argentine has scored goals wherever he has been during his career, and has been linked with a move to Anfield in the past.
The Reds are in desperate need of a top class goalscorer for next season, and having endured a disappointing end to the campaign with Napoli – in which he missed a vital penalty in the defeat to Lazio which saw them miss out on the Champions League – the former Real Madrid man may be open to a new challenge.
He would not come cheap, but Napoli’s financial situation means they would be willing to sell for the right price, and as Liverpool have learnt in the past 12 months – you can’t put a price on a genuine goalscorer.
Theo Walcott
The England man is entering the final 12 months of his contract at the Emirates, and no doubt will have caught the eye of some potential suitors with his performances as a striker towards the end of the season.
Walcott fired a superb hat-trick on the final day of the Premier League season, before firing the opener as the Gunners thrashed Aston Villa in the FA Cup final seven days ago.
Arsene Wenger is said to be keen on signing Raheem Sterling, and Liverpool fans have made it clear they would be delighted with any sort of swap deal that would see Walcott moving in the opposite direction.
Christian Benteke
Despite a quiet showing in last weekend’s Wembley showpiece, Aston Villa’s Belgian powerhouse fired 12 goals over the course of the final 12 matches of the season to save Tim Sherwood and his side from relegation to the Championship.
Those heroics seem to have convinced Brendan Rodgers Benteke is the man to bolster the Reds attack next season, and there is no doubt that given the right service the Belgian is capable of proving a nightmare for any Premier League defence.
If anything at least his signing would prevent Benteke scoring against the Reds. He has managed a total of five goals in seven appearances against Brendan Rodgers side since his arrival in England, including a vital strike in the FA Cup semi final last April.
Alexandre Lacazette
The Frenchman appears to have ruled himself out of a move to a club that is not competing in the Champions League next season, but Liverpool fans would love to see the club show some sort of ambition and at least attempt some sort of offer.
Lacazette is open to a move away from Lyon this summer, having fired 31 goals in 33 matches in all competitions this season.
He would be the ideal signing for the Reds, a forward with an eye for goal, bags of pace, and the capability of linking up play whilst playing in a number of different positions in the attacking third.
Liverpool fans are desperate for a marquee signing this summer, and Lacazette is the forward most supporters seem to be craving.
Edin Dzeko
The Bosnian scored the goals that won Manchester City the title at the expense of Liverpool 12 months ago, but in the time since he appears to have fallen down the pecking order at the Etihad.
Dzeko has made it clear on numerous occasions in the past he sees himself as a first team regular, but with Sergio Aguero and £28million January signing Wilfried Bony competing for that forward role at the Etihad, it is clear it won’t happen for him any time soon.
A proven goalscorer in the Premier League, he would be an excellent signing for Liverpool – a club that scored less than half the goals they managed the previous season over the course of 2014-15.
