Middlesborough have been promoted to the Premier League and will play in England’s top flight next season for the first time since 2009 – and our resident Boro fans here in the Transfer Tavern are still buzzing!
The one worry for Boro fans could be perhaps, that if the side wasn’t good enough to win the Championship, how will they cope in the Premier League?
Middlesborough have some class players in their ranks and fans at the Riverside will be praying that the likes of Jordan Rhodes, Stewart Downing and David Nugent will stay at the club.
Downing and Jonathan Woodgate are two Boro men who were actually there almost ten years ago during their former Premier League years.
Middlesborough have some young quality players too and will be hoping to toughen up in order to become a real force in the Premier League.
Of course, not every team can “do a Leicester” but Aitor Karanka will want his team to sustain a place in the Premier League and perhaps gradually work their way up like Stoke.
Here are FIVE players the Landlord at the Tavern thinks they should sign in order to do so…..
Mathieu Flamini

A very unorthodox pick here, Flamini is known for his tough tackling and enthusiasm. His passion and experience could help lead Middlesborough towards the middle of the Premier League table and away from the relegation zone.
Flamini would provide some great passing, leadership and fight into an inexperienced Boro side.
The Gooner at the Pool Table thinks this would be a great signing for Middlesborough and the Daily Star agrees.
Martin Skrtel

What a coup this could turn out to be for Middlesbrough.
Skrtel doesn’t seem to be part of Jurgen Klopp’s plans at Anfield and the 31-year-old could be a great asset at the back for the Boro.
The Boro boys by the Pool table love the thought of Skrtel at the Riverside!
Fernando Forestieri

No link between Middlesbrough and Sheffield Wednesday for Forestieri, but the bartender at the Tavern thinks this would be a fantastic signing.
The 26-year-old was incredible in the Play-off final at Wembley against Hull and is surely too good for the Championship.
The former Watford man scored 15 goals and assisted a further 7 for the Owls this season, surely he is ready for the Prem?
Dennis Praet

The Gazette has reported that Middlesborough are interested in signing up the 22-year-old Belgian from Anderlecht.
He is wanted across the globe with Europa League winners Sevilla very keen on securing his services. The attacking midifelder scored 6 goals and assisted 9 this year.
Fernando Llorente

A Premier League side needs a rock solid defence and an attack with plenty of goals.
Fernando Llorente would be an absolutely incredible signing, perhaps the best in Middlesborough’s history.
The 31-year-old World Cup winner has been shut out of the Sevilla side since signing from Juventus.
The Daily Star thinks its possible, and nowadays anything is. The Landlord at the Tavern tells Middlesbrough to go all out and get their man.
