5 players who could follow Conte and Radja Nainggolan to Chelsea this summer

Reports have suggested in recent weeks that Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan could be set for a move to Stamford Bridge during the summer months.

The move, reported by The Mirror, has given the Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern cause for optimism after a difficult and turbulent campaign.

The Belgian midfielder has been in fine form for the Serie A club this season but despite the Blues fans in the Tavern welcoming the news, they are hopeful that his arrival won’t be the last incoming signing during the summer.

Many top class superstars have been linked with a summer switch to Stamford Bridge but new boss Antonio Conte will have his work cut out recruiting players to a club ,who will not be able to offer Champions League football next season.

Our writer Lee Clarke sat down with the Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern and came up with FIVE potential signings who could join Nainggolan at Stamford Bridge during the summer……

The Blues are set to be on the search for a new goalkeeper next season and following a superb breakthrough season with Stoke City, the club could do a whole lot worse than pursue the England stopper.

Currently nursing a broken ankle, Butland is set to be fit and firing in time for pre-season and Stoke would naturally find it hard to resist a big money bid from Chelsea.

Having only recently signed a new contract with the Potters, it is likely that the club will demand a big fee for the player but Chelsea won’t be short of cash during the summer.

Edinson Cavani

Cavani

The Uruguayan striker has openly admitted that he feels a new challenge awaits him for next season, with a move to the Premier League looking likely.

Chelsea will probably be in the market for a new talisman with the future of current striker Diego Costa more uncertain by the day at present.

Cavani’s goal ratio wherever he has played has been incredible and the feared marksman would be a superb addition to Chelsea’s team.

A hard working striker, Cavani will fit right into Conte’s methods and you have to say he is exactly the sort of player that the Italian coach will look to recruit.

Paul Pogba

Pogba

The world class superstar looks destined to return to the Premier League at some point and it could be this summer.

Chelsea’s Champions League exclusion could dictate that the ex-Manchester United youngster doesn’t sign for the Blues, but Conte could use all of his persuasive powers to lure him to Stamford Bridge,

The Juventus midfielder will probably only leave the Italian giants if a club should part with a world record sum but one thing Chelsea aren’t short of is money.

Pogba would probably welcome the chance to play under Conte once more and a deal could be put in place during the summer.

Mats Hummels

The Borussia Dortmund central defender is another player who could leave his club during the summer and with Chelsea searching for a central defender, the move would definitely make sense.

The 27-year-old is not thought to be unhappy at Dortmund but a new challenge is probably something he would like to try before the end of his playing days.

With John Terry set to depart in the summer and doubts over Gary Cahill’s ability, the Londoners are almost certain to be in the market for a defender this summer.

Hummels is a Terry kind of defender and if they could pull off a move for the player, it would have to be seen as a coup.

Fraser Forster

Forster

Reports have suggested that both Chelsea goalkeepers could be looking to move elsewhere in the summer, which would mean the Blues need to sign two custodians.

Forster has been a revelation between the posts for Southampton since his return from a serious knee injury and he looks destined to play for a bigger club at some point in his career.

Chelsea would be the perfect move for Forster and he would have a real chance of being the first choice keeper for many years to come, should a move come to fruition.
