In perhaps one of the most shocking transfer rumours of the proverbial silly season, Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Coutrois has been linked with a huge move to Premier League rivals Liverpool.
While it may sound outlandish at first thought, it is indicative of the sort of progress the Reds are looking to make under the stewardship of Jurgen Klopp.
No longer will the Reds bow to a transfer committee, but can surely now be considered a major player in the market once again now they have a manager of borderline world class stature.
Though the German has already gone some way into improving what he’s already got at Anfield on the training pitch, it’s looking very likely he’ll be active in bringing players in this summer.
So the potential Courtois deal has obviously wetted the appetites of the fans, but who could potentially follow the Belgian should he arrive?

Mario Gotze
So, the big rumours don’t stop coming.
German World Cup winner Mario Gotze has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield this summer, having worked with Klopp to great success while both were employed by Borussia Dortmund.
Despite being one of the finest playmakers in Europe, the 23-year old has struggled to command much of a starting berth under Pep Guardiola and could be on his way out of the Allianz Arena.
Though the Reds currently boast the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Adam Lallana (yipee) in those positions, there’s no doubt Gotze would improve the squad.
He’s that good.
Ben Chilwell
Left-back has proved to be somewhat of a problem berth for the club over the past few years, with Alberto Moreno failing to convince in regards to his defensive work.
To that end, Leicester City starlet Ben Chilwell has been linked with a move to Anfield and reportedly prefers the Reds over Arsenal.
The highly rated 18-year old would be a wonderful signing for the club, a burgeoning English talent who could potentially fill what has been a problem role for a number of years now.
Piotr Zielinski
Polish midfield ace Piotr Zielinski is thought to be a rather hipster target of Klopp’s this summer.
The dynamic midfielder has emerged as a top talent on loan at Empoli this season, noted for his energy and tireless work rate in the middle of the park.
He’d certainly suit the ‘heavy metal’ style of football to which the German tactician is so associated with.
Shkodran Mustafi
Moving for a former Everton player will never be the most popular move amongst Liverpool fans, though it’s hard to imagine even the most ardent of Reds fans turning their noses up at the chance to land Shkodran Mustafi.
The World Cup winning centre-back would be a formidable defender in the heart of defence, having progressed since leaving the Toffees into one of the best defenders in La Liga with Valencia.
Paired next to the incoming Joel Matip, the two would be some force.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
England international Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been linked with a move to Merseyside, after seemingly failing to progress with Arsenal.
Despite the frustration surrounding him in North London, the 22-year old remains a huge talent and would go way into replacing Raheem Sterling at the club.
They’ve lacked natural wide options ever since he left for Manchester City and could use someone of Chamberlain’s quality.
