5 players who could follow Teixeira to Liverpool this month

By Alexander Lapp

It is common knowledge here in the Transfer Tavern that Liverpool are after Alex Teixeira with Ian Ayre flying to Miami as Shakhtar Donetsk prepares for the Florida Cup.

Chelsea are also keen to capture this dynamic player to help their surge to the top half of the table. Regardless if Teixeira is holding up a red jersey in the next week, Jürgen Klopp will need to bolster the roster as his men desperately attempt to reach the top four.

Although Klopp has made two signings with Marko Grujic and Steven Caulker, there are still room for improvements.

Forwards have been a hot topic with supporters, with numerous players being mentioned in the newspapers and online publications.

Some players are far more realistic than others, but with a manager like Klopp, the Kop is dreaming.

Whether these targets are realistic to address in the short January window is up to Klopp, Ayre, and the famous transfer committee.

Below are FIVE players that could make the move to Liverpool in the coming days as the clock ticks closer to that January 31st deadline…….

Alexandre Pato

Pato QPRWill he head to Chelsea or Liverpool? Even the most knowledgeable man here in the Tavern doesn’t know the answer to that question.

Rumours have been flying around the Transfer Tavern saying Chelsea is the club for Pato, with a verbal agreement made.

However, the landlord here in the pub has heard his agent has denied that he will head to Chelsea, stating that Liverpool still have the hots for Pato as well.

This is surely one of the more interesting transfer rumours this month.

If Pato does come to Anfield, he will certainly help the depleting forward line.

A move for Pato could help players like Firmino and Coutinho gel up top as Liverpool struggle for goals continues.

Andre Ayew

Ayew

Liverpool have struggled to find some consistent performances on the flanks, as James Milner continues to disappoint and Jordon Ibe can’t get consecutive starts.

If Benteke will ever be successful at Liverpool, he could do with some better wingers.

Ayew could be the man for Benteke and Liverpool.

Despite Sunderland’s interest, Liverpool could swoop in on a player that tore up the Premier League in August with three goals.

He has seven goals total in the Premier League and although his assists aren’t nearly as delightful to see, a forward like Benteke, who has all the potential to get goals, would be grinning to see Ayew walk through Melwood.

Alvaro Morata

Alvaro Morata

This rumour has picked up steam over the past few days and what a signing this could be.

Morata was the top striker for Juventus last season as they reached the Champions League Finals.

However, with Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandžukić ahead of him, Morata is now available.

Still only 23, he has potential to be quite successful at Liverpool.

He has the movement up top to replace the stagnating Benteke and become a Kop favourite for years to come.

Leroy Sane

SaneThis kid has loads of talent and there are plenty of reasons why the big clubs want him.

Although Sane is still fairly new to the Bundesliga, he has bagged four goals and provided speed Schalke want this season.

It might be important for a club like Liverpool to purchase this wonderkid in January, as his price will certainly rise over the summer.

Klopp loves to work with younger talents and turn them into superstars.

If there is any sort of doubt of whether Klopp can nuture younger talents, Mario Götze, Marco Reus, and Roberto Lewandoski can speak of him.

Joel Matip

Matip

His name has cooled off with the loan of Steven Caulker, but this is a player Liverpool can still get for cheap now.

His contract runs out at the end of the season and even with Liverpool still rumoured to sign him on a Bosman, he is someone that can help the backline.

He is definitely a player for the future, but he has the abilities to come in immediately and contribute.

The likelihood of Matip coming in this month are slim, but Klopp loves his Germans and this man could thrive in the famous red kit.
