With Euro 2016 a matter of weeks away, expectations around the country will be high as England look for their first international title since the World Cup in 1966.
We have had chances previously to add to our international honours list none more so than in the World Cup in Italy in 1990 and Euro 1996 here in England, which both ended in heartache penalty shoot out defeats.
Players come and go and the pressure on those players is built high in the media with expectations reaching fever pitch.
Gone are the last so called golden generation of the Neville brothers, Frank Lampard, David Beckham, Steven Gerrard etc, leaving us with a fresh looking squad and whole new generation of players.
Roy Hodsgon knows his squad selection will be scrutinised and will be hoping the team perform well as his contract expires at the end of this summers tournament.
So our landlord here in the Transfer Tavern has been looking at the current squad and believes that the FIVE names he has picked can be the next golden generation of England players, who can hopefully bring success to our shores once more…..

Dele Alli
What a player the young Tottenham Hotspur midfielder looks like being.
He can play the role just behind the striker with aplomb, linking up well with both the midfield and lone striker.
Can also score the odd cracker of a goal and is definitely one who will feature for England keep more regularly if he keeps his head down and works hard.
Harry Kane
Kane has been in great form again for his club this season and looks to have carried that form to international.
A great goal scored against Germany on Saturday night that included a famous Cryuff turn, a fitting tribute to the great Dutchman.
Has the potential to become one of Europe’s top marksman and will be one to watch during Euro 2016.
Jamie Vardy
Another striker who has been in impressive form for his club this season.
His form has helped his side Leicester City reach the top of the Premier League and emerge as unlikely champions come May.
Scored his first international goal at the weekend with a cool back heel flick in the 3-2 win over Germany.
Chris Smalling
The Manchester United is currently in the form of his top flight career this season.
He has the capabilities to be one of the top defenders in the country if he continues to progress at the pace he is.
With injuries sustained by more experienced members of the England squad, Smalling will have the chance to make the centre half spot his own in the coming weeks.
Jack Butland
The Stoke City goalkeeper has been one of the form goalkeepers in the Premier League this season.
Started the weekend’s game in Germany but unfortunately sustained a fractured ankle whilst clearing the ball.
Has the potential to make himself England’s number one for years to come and never looks out of his depth, no matter how big the game he is playing in.
