The speculation is over and Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been enjoying a number of celebratory pints after seeing Jurgen Klopp appointed as their new manager.
Klopp impressed out regulars with his shining displays at Borussia Dortmund and they believe he’s the perfect man to provide some much-required spark into Liverpool’s side, restoring the Reds to near the top of English football where they should be.
Whilst fans dream of huge January arrivals, the fact of the matter is that Klopp will have to get by with what he has got for the first few months of his Anfield tenure- but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
Brendan Rodgers failed to get the most out of his players, and big money signings, but Klopp’s approach could be completely different- and we feel these five players are going to flourish under the German.

Philippe Coutinho
Philippe Coutinho is a player that divides opinion, as Liverpool fans will sign his praises but supporters from other clubs were extremely surprised to see his name amongst last year’s Premier League team of the season.
It’s fair to say it was a controversial choice and this year, under the spotlight, he hasn’t quite hit the mar fully. However, he’s shown flashes of his brilliance and Klopp can nurture the Brazilian into a match-winner for the Reds.
With experience getting the best out of the likes of Shinji Kagawa and Nuri Sahin, Coutinho could easily become Klopp’s next success story.
Emre Can
Liverpool need a defensive midfielder and Can could be that man; though he needs to step it up a bit if he is to ensure that the Reds don’t dip into the transfer market in January for a replacement.
Working alongside his compatriot Jurgen Klopp could be the turning point for Can’s Liverpool career, taking him from reasonable performances into a man of the match contender. He started last year in dominant form but slipped under the radar towards the end.
In Klopp’s favoured 4-2-3-1 formation, Can could become machine in the deep midfield role- and at just 21 years of age he has plenty of time to excel.
Alberto Moreno
The Spaniard hasn’t quite got going at Anfield, with inconsistency being the name of the game. Under Klopp, the regular performance level should smooth out and Moreno could develop into a core member of the Reds side.
Marcel Schmelzer and Lukasz Piszczek, Klopp’s full-backs at Dortmund, were stars of the show at times for the Bundesliga side and a similar level of freedom could result in the best from Moreno.
Christian Benteke
Benteke has failed to live-up to his price-tag at Anfield so far but he could become a firm-favourite of Klopp’s, as the German likes a target man to provide the spearhead to his attacking side.
The 24-year-old Belgian has a lot to live up to and the concerns are there, as previous seasons have seen him flourish for a spell but sinking without a trace for others. This can’t happen at Liverpool- but Klopp could develop Benteke into the star-striker he needs.
Dejan Lovren
This one may come as a surprise but let’s face it, Dejan Lovren surely can’t get any worse at Anfield.
His arrival from Southampton has led to a torrid time and his defensive decisions at times have been woeful. That’s not down to a lack of talent though, instead it’s due to a loss of confidence and control.
Klopp can change that, developing a back-line that is as important defending as it is going forward. If he finds the right partnership early on, then Liverpool will rise up the Premier League standings.
