It’s been an awful season so far for the current Premier League champions, Chelsea. Only 7 wins from their 23 league games has left them sitting in the bottom half of the table in what has been an unexplainable, shocking decline of form for them.
After the sacking of Jose Mourinho, it was left to former Chelsea boss, Guus Hiddink to make his return and attempt to galvanise the troops at Stamford Bridge and start working their way up the table to a more familiar league position.
With the Dutchman only making one permanent signing so far in this transfer window in the shape of Matt Miazga from New York Red Bulls, Chelsea fans will be interested to see if Hiddink will bring to the club any last-gasp transfers to help them fire their way up the league again.

Alex Teixeira
Both Chelsea and Liverpool were interested in signing Brazillian forward, Alex Teixeira, from Shakhtar Donetsk as Hiddink went in search of an answer to Chelsea’s recent goalscoring woes.
Chelsea have emerged as favourites for a potential deal with the Ukrainian club for a deal of a reported £30m. With only Diego Costa and Loic Remy as recognised strikers at Stamford Bridge, Hiddink is keen to bolster his striking options in case of injury.
With Alexandre Pato joining the Blues on loan until the end of the season, one more attack-minded player could be enough for Hiddink. Teixeira currently has a buy-out clause of approximately £53m but it’s no secret to football fans that Chelsea never shy away from splashing a bit of cash for quality.
Thomas Vermaelen
One of the more recent transfer stories to make the headlines is Chelsea’s interest in ex-Arsenal defender, Thomas Vermaelen. It was revealed yesterday that veteran Chelsea skipper, John Terry, would be parting company with Chelsea at the end of the season and Hiddink will be looking for targets to help to strengthen Chelsea’s defense.
The 30-year-old has struggled for regular game time at Spanish giants, Barcelona, and they are supposedly open to the idea of him leaving in pursuit of regular first-team football. Chelsea have made an offer to Barcelona to seal the transfer so it will be interesting to see how this transfer story unfolds.
Antoine Griezmann
Chelsea are planning a move for Atletico Madrid star, Antoine Griezmann, after hearing that Eden Hazard could be pushing for a move to Real Madrid or PSG after becoming unhappy at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues will move for the £60m-rated Griezmann as a replacement for Hazard who has struggled this season, only managing one goal in the entire campaign. On the other hand, the Frenchman, Griezmann, has been in superb form for Atletico and will have a host of clubs eager to secure his services.
However, with Hazard’s potential exit coming so soon to deadline day, it may be too late for anything other than speculation. Chelsea fans should definitely keep their eyes open on any news regarding Griezmann’s future.
Robin Van Persie
This one would not go down well with the Arsenal fans but would more than certainly spark some optimism from the Chelsea faithful. At one stage in the not-so-distant past, Van Persie was one of the most dangerous strikers in the Premier League and he could be making a surprise return.
The Dutchman is said to be unhappy with life in the Turkish league and the Blues are keen to land him before the transfer window shuts at 11pm. With Radamel Falcao injured and Loic Remy possibly on his way out of Stamford Bridge, Chelsea want more firepower.
Van Persie has already experienced the Premier League with Arsenal and Manchester United respectively and could be making it third-time lucky in an attempt to hit form again in England’s top-flight.
John Stones
Finally on the Chelsea wishlist for a potential deadline day deal is Everton defender, John Stones. Stones has been on Chelsea’s radar for a while now and it’s no secret that Stones is one of the most highly rated defenders in the Premier League.
There has been doubts about whether or not Stones would be given enough game time at Stamford Bridge but with John Terry nearing the end of his career at Chelsea, Cahill being targeted for a possible exit away from the Blues.
Stones would be idea to bring in as a replacement whilst Terry is still there to learn from but with Everton being stubborn to let him leave, a deadline day transfer for Stones is always a possibility.
